It’s finally time for one of my favorite times of years. Closely matching my love of Halloween. That’s Christmas because everyone is in holiday cheer and generous towards each other. I typically begin my holiday season after Thanksgiving by going to a local store and picking up a Christmas tree with my mom and sister. It’s a tradition we’ve been doing for as long as I can remember. And then the Sunday after Thanksgiving we begin the decorating of the tree as the branches typically have fallen down by then. This year was no exception. But we are debating on getting a fake tree in the future. But not this year. We have one of those memory types of trees filled with ornaments we have collected over the years. From the first ornaments my sister and I ever made, to the ones we purchased every year that showcased our lives that year.
Some of my yearly ornaments were, not in any order and why I purchased them that year:
- Guitar: I was learning how to play bass guitar this year. Though I have since switched to acoustic guitar.
- Hockey: I was obsessed with playing hockey for two years before I left like everyone was ten times the size of me and I moved on to my love of art. There are maybe three ornaments in all for hockey: a puck, a girl hockey player, and some hockey sticks.
- Dogs: Simply dogs are life. Puppy/dog was my first word, and I can’t get enough of them. Hopefully some day I can get Pixie a sibling so I can have a little pack.
- Wine bottle: This one is a highlight from our vacation to Door County. They had a Christmas house there that we got this from. Which seemed very fitting as we went to several wineries while we were there.
I also like to place holiday flowers at my office desk and a little holiday decorations on my home desk. As they make me smile every time I look at them. The ones at my office however stay up all season long as I tried to keep them as winter long as possible so I don’t have to switch them out as often.
Here is a look at this year’s Christmas tree. How do you guys decorate your tree? Or any fun traditions that you have for this holiday season? I would love to hear them!
