When they advertise that this race was the happiest 5K, you have high expectations and wonder if they’re actually telling the truth. Especially when it’s on a Sunday morning and you were up late the previous night at a concert. My sister and I agreed we would run our first 5K race together. And let me tell you, it was amazing. The race was held at the state fairgrounds in Minnesota. We arrived an hour before our start time because we didn’t pick up our registration packet early, but it honestly took that long to get on the bus and check in then change into what we were going to wear during the race.
Last minute I decided I was going to film us going through each of the stations, so I didn’t have my normal camera that was good for action footage so I ended up having to film with my cell phone that I was also using for tracking my progress. This lead to my phone crashing on me several times or not capturing footage at all of us at the second (orange) station. Below I put together what I did manage to capture.
Overall, they were not lying. The Color Run was an absolute blast and I’m so glad I did it with my sister. Because shortly after the yellow station, I twisted my ankle so I couldn’t run as fast as I wanted to anymore. My sister stuck by my side and we crossed every station running with smiles on our faces. Planning on running again next year as I loved this experience.
