Since November 2015, my main blogging platform has been SquareSpace though I’ve had this blog on SquareSpace since February 2015 I didn’t use it as my main platform. Before that I used Tumblr for all my blogging as it was simple, free, and I honestly just reblogged things but didn’t create anything. Until I made the switch and I honestly love using SquareSpace. But there are pros and cons of any web platform, so I felt like getting into some of them today.

Pros

  • SquareSpace tools are high quality and fully integrated into their website builder. As well as fully supported by SquareSpace support.
  • They are very committed to its customers and you get a response back within an hour. Which is not something I can say about other website builders.
  • SquareSpace is easy to learn and integrate your blog with. As well as it’s simple to see how the live version of the page or post will look while you’re creating it. So you can see how the text, images, and videos will appear in the final product. There is no preview or publish required to see it.
  • Updates are tested and pushed out to your website automatically so you don’t have to worry about them breaking anything.
  • Send out Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Facebook posts at the same time your post is published either through blog or gallery.

Cons

  • You can only use SquareSpace tools as they are not an open sourced website builder like WordPress. So you don’t have thousands of different tools or plug-ins to use at your disposal to build your website.
  • Pricey option but it’s worth the investment. Tumblr and Blogger are free options, while SquareSpace has different prices based off the package you choose. The personal package which gives you 20 pages/galleries/blogs, free custom domain, sell 1 product, accept donations, and mobile-optimized website costs $8/month if billed annually or $12 month to month. And the business package which gives you unlimited pages/galleries/blogs, free custom domain, mobile-optimized website, sell up to 25 products, professional email from Google, $100 Google AdWords Credit, and the developer platform costs $18/month if billed annually or $26 month to month.
