Summer is approaching slowly but surely and that means one thing – the season of showing off more skin is almost here, and we’re looking forward to it! However, many people may feel unprepared due to the fact that hectic lifestyle doesn’t allow us to spend more time taking care of our skin, which makes it look dull and dry. If you are one of them, welcome to the club! Don’t be desperate, here are some basic tips on how to give your skin that beautiful glow it deserves. Enjoy!

1.     Hydrate on the Inside…

In case you didn’t know, skin is your largest organ made up of cells that consist of water. It is therefore understandable that hydration is absolutely essential when it comes to your skin’s health – without water, it will become dry, flaky, and unpleasantly tight. Such skin is more prone to premature wrinkling, so make sure that you drink enough liquid on a daily basis.

2.     …as Well as on the Outside

Aside from sufficient water intake, it is important that you keep your skin hydrated on the outside as well. You will replenish moisture in the best possible way by using creams and moisturizers right after you leave shower, since your pores will still be open thanks to steam in your bathroom. This will allow the product to penetrate deeper into your skin, as well as to absorb much faster.

3.     Don’t Forget to Exfoliate

Exfoliation is another important step in your preparation for summer days because it will help your skin look rejuvenated and refreshed like never before. Even a homemade scrub will do the trick – it will remove dead skin cells that have been piling up on the surface of your skin for months, thus allowing you to tan much quicker.

4.     Opt for Mineral Makeup

Mineral makeup products are fantastic because they are fragrance and preservative-free, which means that they won’t cause irritation – so even people with sensitive skin can use them. These can even clear up acne, thanks to zinc and its anti-irritating properties, thus leaving you with radiant and youthful skin ready for summer. Many brands such as bare Minerals, Clarins and Youngblood cosmetics have a wide range of mineral makeup products to offer, starting from foundations, over eye shadows, to lipsticks and other must-haves. Give them a try and you won’t regret it!

5.     Eat Foods Rich in Antioxidants

Foods rich in antioxidants are absolutely essential for your pre-summer diet because these are beneficial for your skin at so many levels. Vitamin C that can be found in fresh fruits and vegetables is known as collagen booster, which most certainly keeps youthful look of your skin. Vitamin E acts similarly to it, and it reduces the appearance of wrinkles fine lines, and age spots. Lycopene, on the other hand, can be found in red fruits and vegetables, and it is known for reducing the DNA damage that leads to wrinkles. Make these a part of your diet and you will see magical improvement!

6.     Slather on Sunscreen

Using sunscreen is important throughout the whole year, and not just during summer. Unfortunately, many people tend to neglect this part of skin care, which usually leads to premature aging, dehydration, and degradation of skin’s texture. All of these can be prevented by applying creams with SPF 30 or even higher, with both UVA and UVB protection – that will help your skin maintain its elasticity and firmness much longer.
