I figured for the next quick and easy hairstyles, I would go over the ponytails. When I’m not in the mood to wrap up all my hair into a bun, then the next hairstyle when I’m running out the door is a ponytail. Not I do include pigtails in this category, but these can be done as a single ponytail. I’m also doing this one before the next one as the techniques in this one will be used in the final segment of this mini-series.

French Braid

  1. Brush hair. Before braiding, brush hair to smooth out any knots or tangles.
  2. Gather hair at top of head; divide into three sections.
  3. Cross the sections by going over top of the center section.
  4. Add hair to the section.
  5. Add hair to the section on the other side.
  6. Repeat adding hair and crossing sections.
  7. Secure the braid at the end with a band.

Dutch Braid

  1. Brush hair. Before braiding, brush hair to smooth out any knots or tangles.
  2. Gather hair at top of head; divide into three sections.
  3. Cross the sections by going underneath. Example: Cross the left strand under the center, and pick up another small section from the left side of your head.
  4. Add hair to the section.
  5. Add hair to the section on the other side.
  6. Repeat adding hair and crossing sections.
  7. Secure the braid at the end with a band.

Dutch braid, I would've bobby pinned that loose section for example as it doesn't look good, but I didn't see that until after filming. Same goes for the gap at the end of the Dutch braid. Fishtail Braid

  1. Pull hair back into a ponytail.
  2. Divide the ponytail into two smaller, equal-sized ponytails.
  3. Separate a half-inch section of hair from the outside of the left ponytail.
  4. Pull this piece across the top of the left ponytail over to the right ponytail.
  5. Continue going back and forth between the two sections until you reach the end, then secure with an elastic band.

What is your favorite ponytail/braid?
