OGX Moroccan Argan Creme Shampoo, Sea Mineral Moisture Conditioner, & Argan Oil Hair Treatment Review

OGX shampoo and conditioner

Of all the products I've been trying out lately, this is probably the one I was hoping to work the most but ended up failing in the end. Due to the whole money issue that I mentioned in my life lately post a week ago, I decided I was going to switch from the holy grail of shampoo/condition/treatment set of Ovation to OGX. I had seen countless YouTubers and bloggers rave about this brand so I lost to save some money I would buy these three products to replace my Ovation set. Honestly I wish I hadn't switched. My hair looks and feels lifeless. As well as I've been having a lot more fall out and split ends.

OGX Luxurious Moroccan Argan Creme Shampoo

I got this at Walmart for about $6. So it's not expensive compared to my holy grail shampoo. According to OGX:

Get soft, silky hair with OGX Moroccan Argan Creme Shampoo. This sulfate-free shampoo will penetrate, moisturize, renew and create softness and strength. It will also smooth the outer layers of the hair cuticle for touchable softness and shine. This exotic OGX Moroccan Argan shampoo’s formula has a centuries-old history of providing natural Vitamin E and antioxidants while renewing your hair’s cell structure. Give your hair the nourishment it needs with this moisturizing shampoo.

The claim about moisture, I honestly see no difference. And as far as softness and shine, I do not see this result at all with my hair. I do like that this product is cruelty free and was not tested on animals, but that's not a good enough reason for me to continue using this product once the bottle runs out of product. I also notice that this shampoo is really heavy so my hair just feels weighed down. And I already have thick hair so I don't need it to be weighed down. My mom tried the product as well on her really thin hair and experienced the exact same result.

OGX Quenched Sea Mineral Moisture Conditioner

I also got this at Walmart for $5. OGX claim on this product:

Quench dry, damaged hair with OGX Quenched Sea Mineral Moisture Conditioner, a nutrient-rich blend of hydrating sea minerals along with healing algae to wrap split ends in repairing moisture while supercharged sea kelp transforms dry, brittle hair into soft supple perfection. Why You Want It: It’s a perfect spa escape. Luxurious sea minerals quench dry, stiff strands leaving them refreshed with swish-like movement and super soft shine.

It is supposed to be perfect for dry or damaged hair. And my hair is both from all the color treatments, without my ovation it's even more so. So I thought this would be the perfect replacement just as I had with the other two items I got. Especially when it had very high reviews. But again, it just fell completely short in my opinion. My hair returned to being very brittle since switching to the product and I haven't dyed my hair since before I switched. Every time I run my fingers through my hair, I just see a lot of fall out that I didn't have before and split ends everywhere. Which is one thing they claimed would be fixed by this product.

OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Intense Moisturizing Treatment

Another purchase from Walmart for $6. OGX description of the product:

OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment instantly restores shine and softness while strengthening hair. Derived from the southwest region of Morocco, argan oil protects from heat styling and UV damage. Organic Moroccan argan oil, 8 oz, in this rich, thick formula gets deep into the hair cuticle, leaving hair softer, silkier and more management. To use, simply work into hair for 3-5 minutes and rinse out; product performance is enhanced by placing a shower cap over hair and wrapping cap with a hot wet towel.

I heard hair masks are something really important for the health of your hair. Ovation had something similar to this so I purchased this one as a replacement. Which it was far from. My hair didn't feel softer nor look silkier after using this product. As for as making my hair more manageable, that wasn't the case either. My hair actually felt like it was getting more into rat's nest after using the product making me spend more time trying to work out all the knots.

Final Thoughts

I don't think these products from OGX are worth it. They do absolutely nothing good for my hair other than making it clean. I have been using the product for over a month and honestly hate the way my hair looks compared to before. Also I have noticed a severe change in my fingernails in that they are a lot more brittle since I started using OGX. To the point where they would completely break or flake apart. Some times I steal some of my sister's ovation just to try to revive my hair and nails a little bit. So I'm going to be getting rid of this product and switching back to Ovation.
