Sydneysiders have an awesome sense of style, especially when it comes to home decoration. You won’t see that many poorly decorated homes around Sydney. For the most part, Sydney homes are modern and expensive looking.
Now, it’s easy to decorate a home when you have a budget for expensive accessories or even for an interior designer. But what can you do when your budget is not that far reaching? Well, one thing is certain, you don’t give up on decorating.
However, decorating your home on a budget is a huge topic, so what do you say we make it a multi-part series? Agreed? Great.
So let’s kick this series off by talking about how to make your bedroom look expensive by using simple ideas and tricks. Yes, the bedroom is our first area, so let’s not waste any more time, and get right to it.
First, you should declutter your bedroom as much as possible. There is nothing worse than having tons of unnecessary accessories laying around on your bedroom floor. Additionally, clutter makes your room appear smaller, and small bedrooms usually look cheap. So, pick up the books from the floor and place them on some shelves, use wall-mounted lamps instead of floor ones, and so on.
Pillows, pillows, and more pillows
Everybody has seen those posh hotel beds in the penthouse suites, if not in real life, then in the movies. And what do all those luxurious beds have in common? Well, dozens of pillows.
You can make your bed look expensive just by adding more pillows, even if it’s just a mattress on a pair of wooden pallets. Plus, your bed will be ten times more comfortable. This is a win-win situation if you ask us.
Upgrade the lights
Probably the easiest way to posh up your bedroom is to get rid of old lamps and install some modern looking ones. If you have some extra cash to spare, you can even install a luxurious chandelier. There is nothing more beautiful than having a big chandelier hanging from your bedroom ceiling.
However, if you decide to get one of these chandeliers, you should play it safe and get a professional Sydney electrician to handle all of the wiring and installation. After all, you don’t want to drop it and potentially hurt yourself.
Clean up your walls
Some people love to hang pictures and posters all over their bedroom walls. But let’s face it – that looks really cheap. If you want to give your bedroom a new shine, then you should clean up the walls.
Start by repainting your walls, and don’t use white colour unless you are going for a minimalist look. White will actually make your bedroom look rather bland. You should consider using grey, rich blue, etc. After that, you can hang a couple of paintings and maybe a mirror, but nothing more. You should use paintings to contrast the colour of the walls, not to cover them completely.
Buy royal sheets
Finally, treat yourself with “royal” sheets. Using plain white sheets will create a hospital vibe in your bedroom, and nobody wants that. However, if you buy a pair of those smooth silk sheets that you see in the movies, your bedroom will immediately look a lot better.
That is all that we have prepared for today. As you can see, it’s not that hard to make your bedroom look expensive. Sure, there are a lot more options and ways you can go about this, but in our opinion, these five are the most effective and affordable ones.
