I don’t know who the originator of this tag is, but I wanted to do the 7 Deadly Sins Book Tag as it looked interesting. I spotted this on Berries and Books.
GREED: What is The Most Expensive Book You Own?

I wouldn’t say it’s my most expensive book as I think most of them were around the same amount, but the most expensive set that I got all at once was the Throne of Glass series as paperback ran around $65 which was the discounted Amazon Prime amount, and normally that set is $98.
I would’ve gotten the hardback then purchased these amazing dust covers by NerdyInk to go over them, but that would’ve been $170 for just the set. And the dust covers aren’t available anymore. So, in a way I’m kind of glad I didn’t end up going with that option. Especially since at the time I had no idea how much I would like the series. Plus, normally I love paperbacks. If I had a choice between hardback and paperback, I go with paperback because then I don’t have to deal with dust covers. But for Throne of Glass with those custom dust covers, I would do it because those are so gorgeous!
GLUTTONY: What Book(s) Have You Shamelessly Devoured Many Times?
Any of Sarah J. Maas books especially Throne of Glass series. I can return to those time and time again and never get tired of it. Yes, there are problems with representation for both POC and LGBTQ+, which is a general problem in her books. But I love reading the plot, and sometimes I’ll pick up the books and just read certain POVs through the series like Aelin/Rowan, Elide/Lorcan, or Dorian/Manon depending on my mood.
SLOTH: What Book/Series Have You Neglected Over Sheer Laziness?
Every Day by David Levithan, I got halfway through the book then started reading another book. And then I just kept reading other books, and have yet to go back and finish Every Day even though I did enjoy the book. I thought it was an interesting concept and I want to know what happens. I haven’t watched the movie so I don’t know how it ends, and I want to find out especially considering there are more books in this series.
PRIDE: What Books(s) Do You Bring Up When You Want To Sound Like An Intelligent Reader?
I normally don’t try to bring up any specific books to sound like an “intelligent reader”, I just mention whatever I’m currently reading that I find interesting. I don’t read a lot of classics or non-fiction so mentioning anything in those feels like lying.
LUST: What Attributes Do You Find Most Attractive In Characters?
The characters I tend to be drawn to are usually sarcastic, self-assured, and smart. They don’t have to have all these things for me to like them, or any of them but those are usually the ones I gravitate towards. Especially if they go through something and learn from it.
If a character is stubborn for no reason, complains a lot or generally awful towards others (like Umbridge from Harry Potter, Tamlin from A Court of Thorns and Roses, or Zara Deerborn from The Dark Artifices) then it’s a no go for me.
ENVY: What Books Would You Most Like To Receive As a Gift?
Oh, there are so many books in my wishlist that I would seriously love to get my hands on to read. Which I’ve been holding off on getting as I just did a massive book order that I need to get to. Probably the next thing off that list that I would love to receive or get would be either Caraval series by Stephanie Garber or Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.
WRATH: What Author(s) Do You Have a Love/Hate Relationship With?
J. K. Rowling. I love the Harry Potter series, but the author seriously needs to stop with her tweets and trying to force representations. I’m of the mindset that if it’s not what got published in the books, then it doesn’t count. You can’t go back and say “oh, so and so was blank”. No… you never said that in the book. You’re only saying it now because you want to look good or got called out for not having inclusion.
If you want to do this tag, then by all means go for it. And let me know in the comments so I can come read your answers to this tag.

I thoroughly enjoy SJM books. She seems to get a lot of hate on social media but she isn’t the only author that has problems with POC and LGBTQ+ characters?? (Holly Black 👀 who I love as well, but she is very popular and imo has the same issues). Also I love that TOG cover. Loved reading your post!

Completely agree with you. Right? That cover is just soooo pretty.

I really enjoy SJM’s books, but I totally agree with you about representation in SJM’s books, sadly she’s not the only author that doesn’t have many POC or LGBT+ characters/representation in their books. They just don’t get called out on it the same. I love those covers for ToG 😍 I’ve been seeing them all over bookstagram and it makes me wish I had them… but I would’ve had to buy the hardbacks too
Loved reading this post Mae!

I don’t have very expensive books. I think the most expensive I have is a 1965 edition of Pride and Prejudice that I’ve paid $50 for.

I’ve debated on getting the collector’s edition of some of the classics myself, but never had ended up getting them.
