Anastasia Beverly Hills released a brand new eyeshadow palette that seriously caught my eye. Enough where I seriously wanted to get it since it’s super colorful compared to all of the ABH palettes released before. And I really enjoy the ABH eyeshadow palettes. I don’t rank it as the top formula purely as there is so much kickback in the pans and the whole drama with Subculture. But I reach for these palettes a lot. So that was enough to get me to purchase the Riviera Palette. Which is supposed to be the springtime palette with a bunch of seasonal tones.
This palette includes 14 shades (8 ultra-mattes, 4 metallics and 2 duo chromes) for $45, I do find it interesting that none of the shades match the nautical packaging. That being there isn’t a navy shade to match the stripes. The packaging is not the usual felt texture but a canvas texture instead. Like previous palettes you get a dual-ended brush and a large mirror.

- Yacht (Duo Chrome mauvy taupe with a violet shift)
- Seychelles (Metallic aqua marine)
- Palermo (Metallic jewel pink)
- Seaside (Duo Chrome silver with a subtle blue shift)
- Inheritance (Metallic true gold)
- Mediterranean (Metallic sky blue)
- Estate (Matte soft pastel peachy pink)
- Cabana (Matte muted birch mustard)
- Coastline (Matte pastel soft peach)
- Bahamas (Matte bright bold candy hot pink pressed pigment)
- Monte Carlo (Matte cool mid-tone pink)
- Cannes (Matte bright violet purple pressed pigment)
- Palm (Matte dark chocolate brown pressed pigment)
Looks Using Riviera
The look above was inspired by James Charles and Abby Roberts who did a facechart by Jucas Tape on Instagram. I used the shades Bahama, Cabana, Cannes, Inheritance, Palermo, and Seychelles to create this look.
For the second look, I used the shades Estate, Sails, Coastline, Bahamas, Monte Carlo, Cannes, Inheritance, Mediterranean, Palermo, and Seaside to create this look. I also have on ColourPop BFF Liquid Liner in Crzy for the winged liner.
Overall Thoughts
The Riviera palette is very similar to the other palettes by Anastasia Beverly Hills. The shades are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. And the metallic shades are loosely pressed so they are opaque right away, but I would still recommend to use a wet brush or fingertip for best application. Like most ABH palettes, the mattes are powdery so there is a good amount of kickback in the pan but there’s barely any fallout on the cheeks while applying them. Some of the mattes (Bahamas, Cannes, and Palm) are pressed pigments. Meaning they may contain Lake Dyes not approved by the FDA for the eye area due to staining.
So do I recommend this palette?
Hell yeah! I really enjoy this one plus unlike other Anastasia Beverly Hills it’s got a lot of pops of colors to create a variety of looks. I think this palette is limited edition, but I hope they change that and keep this palette around longer as I can see this being a staple for a lot of people. I know I’m going to reach for it a bunch.
