One brand that I follow on Instagram but have never tried before is the indie brand called Black Moon Cosmetics, and after deciding not to move and trying to cheer myself up I decided we needed to fix that. So I ended up getting three of the Moonlighters in the shades Centipede, Glow Worm, and Squid. I do want to get the rest of the collection but that will have to wait just a little bit before I can get the others. Each moonlighter costs $22 and contains 4.5 g or 0.16 oz of product. All Black Moon Cosmetics products are vegan and cruelty free.
Packaging Review
I normally never talk about packaging on my blog, but I have to say I’ve never had a brand where I wanted to discuss the packaging until now. To start with the products come in a black box with gorgeous fantasy castle-scape which I think is incredible. The moonlighters come in super cute container with bright blue jelly fish, neon shrooms, and galaxy background. On the back each one says: “Glow in the dark with our exquisite pressed highlighters that deliver a mysterious glow from within.” As for the highlighter themselves, you have the calligraphy holographic name and on the back you have a little drawing of the creature the moonlighter is named after. Which is such a cute touch. Then on the clasp there’s a little crescent moon. And inside the mirror isn’t just a standard mirror, there are crescent moons in each corner and little stars around the edges. Black Moon Cosmetics gave little personal touches on every inch of the product, which I seriously love. As it just makes it so much more unique. And you know they put a lot of passion into creating the product. Also they smell like cranberry and oranges, it isn’t an overpowering smell but I really love it!
Shade Descriptions
There are seven moonlighters in total, but I only managed to get three of them. So these are the descriptions of each of the shades that I did get:
- Squid is a glorious diamond white highlighter.
- Centipede is a stunning pale banana yellow highlighter.
- Glow worm is an iridescent lime green highlighter.
You can’t really see the full or best pigmentation on all of the shades since the light wasn’t directly hitting each part of my hand when I was showing off the swatches of each. But you can get a general idea of the colors in the picture. And yes, this is on slightly tanned (fake tanner) skin that’s still in the fair category and looks like I never got any sun. I mean I didn’t but I tried to look like I enjoyed the summer in the sun, though I spent it in an office. But either way, here’s what the highlighters look like on basically the insanely light skin.
Final Thoughts
I seriously love these highlighters. I was personally very nervous for the shade glow worm as I thought on my pale skin it would be overly obvious that I put a lime green shade on. But it doesn’t look overwhelming, so that makes me really want the other colorful shades as well. And they for sure give you that glow from within look, and give you that almost glass like appearance. Have you tried the Black Moon Cosmetics Moonlighters, if so which shade is your favorite?
Love ya,
