Recently I decided to go through my bookshelves and get rid of some books I would never end up reading or would never re-read. Mainly to make room for books I actually enjoy or want to read. A lot of these I’ve had for ten years or more, so they’ve either gotten a lot of love or never got love. This gave me inspiration for going over some book series that I never finished reading for one reason or another. Some of these I still have the books of while others I do not.
There may or may not be a trend with the books in this list.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I have read almost the entire series except for the final book. I think I got vampire out as that literally was the only thing I was reading for my high school years. Then I went to college before I read the last book, and have never gotten around to reading that last book. At this point, I would need to re-read the entire series as I can only remember the highlights of it at this point.
Vampire Diaries by L. J. Smith
When this series switched from being the original author to a ghost writer, I never finished it. I read the first book of that section then peace-out of the rest. Not because I didn’t like it but there was just something missing in it. I still watch the CW shows that were based off this series, but I never finished the books though I still keep them.
House of Night by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast
I read all the way through book 5 of 12. This one like Vampire Academy just turned into a case of I went off to college and was a bit tired of vampires. So, I never finished it. Apparently Netflix is turning this into a show with both of the writers being involved. I might check out the show but I have no interest in going back to read the books or finish the series.
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
Another vampire series only this one instead of them being immortal the typical way, these characters are reborn and have to remember their past lives. They were also angels in the beginning of time but their curse was becoming vampires when they rebelled against heaven then begged for mercy at the end. I managed to four out of seven books before the “I’m sick of vampire books” hit in. I can’t remember what happened at this point since it was over ten years ago since I last read these books.
Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Faria Stolarz
I got all the way to the last book in this series then stopped reading it somewhere near the beginning or middle. I don’t remember. It’s a series where the main character has visions of the future (very vague visions) through her nightmares and has to figure out how to stop them. By last book, I mean the fourth book as the fifth book is a graphic novel. I don’t remember why I stopped reading it, but I have no desire to go back to read it again just to finish it off with the last book.
Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
I think this series suffered from the books coming out too far apart for me. So, when I started reading the third book I couldn’t remember anything of what happened and got bored reading it. I remember LOVING this series when I read the first and second book, so maybe one day I’ll finish this one. As I freaking love dragons. But that’s going to have to wait for some time as I have a lot of other books to get through first. Plus, I need to get my hands on the final book in the series so I can just read them all one after the other without a major gap in between.
What book series did you never get around to finishing? Or if you’ve read any of these what did you think of them? Should I go back to any of these and give them another chance?
Love ya,
Mae Polzine
