Mid-Year Reading Wrap Up: Best Books I’ve Read So Far

Instead of going through every book I've read so far for my mid-year reading wrap up, I decided to focus on the ones with the highest ratings. Especially since I've read so many books this year. Each of these books received four stars or above, indicating that they were among the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put any of these books down and found them to be excellent. However, because it is on a.25 increment scale, there is a range within it, with some reaching closer to five stars than others.…
View PostLooking Back at the Books I Read in June 2023

I finally feel like I'm out of my reading slump. I've been reading a ton of books over on Kindle; two of which were ARC. I don't know if it's because a bunch of books that were on my TBR or in series I had already started came out this month or if the mood finally shifted. I know I have several more coming out in July, so we'll see if that continues. But I'm also in the middle of moving, so we'll see how much reading I actually get done.…
View PostMy Thoughts on This Gilded Abyss (This Gilded Abyss, Book 1) by Rebecca Throne

This Gilded Abyss is a Bioshock inspired LGBTQ+ Horror and Fantasy book. It also just happens to have come out directly before everything with the Titan submersible happened, which I find slightly hilarious in the timing. Not that it's what originally got me to download this book on Kindle Unlimited. No, I went for it because of Bioshock which I played for the first time earlier this year.…
View PostMy Thoughts on the Monsters & Muses Series by Sav R. Miller

For some reason, I thought I already wrote a review on this series: Monsters & Muses by Sav. R Miller, but I haven't. I only wrote a review for Promise and Pomegranates and then did quick thoughts in my monthly round-ups whenever I read each of the remaining books. But since this series is technically finished now, I figured I would summarize my thoughts on this series.…
View PostMy Thoughts on The Stars Are Dying (Nytefall, Book 1) by Chloe C. Peñaranda

I've been wanting to read Chloe C. Peñaranda's books for a while now, but was waiting for the entire An Heir Comes to Rise series to be published before I started as I just know I'm going to consume those books once I start them and I can't take too many cliffhangers at once especially with the amount of books I read. I need closure. So, when I saw that they were releasing The Stars Are Dying, I wanted to read it in the worst way especially since it's loosely inspired by Greek mythology, specifically the myths of Astraea, who is the virgin-goddess of justice. And I love a good Greek mythology inspired book. And I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader copy of the book, but like any book I receive as an ARC my thoughts are my own in my reviews.…
View PostMy Thoughts on the Aspect and Anchor Series by Ruby Dixon

When I'm trying to get out of a reading slump, I usually end up reading something from Ruby Dixon. There was a series I hadn't checked out of hers so I added all the books immediately to my Kindle Unlimited without reading the synopsis of them beforehand. I figured I was getting into another light-hearted sci-fi book series that was maybe 400 pages at most and the majority being sex scenes. That's not what happened when I started reading Aspect and Anchor. For starters, I would not class these as science fiction, other than the fact they don't take place on earth (though one of the main characters in the first book came from there). Aspect and Anchor is more fantasy than science fiction (even though it's classed as such on Amazon). So, I thought I would give my overall thoughts on the series rather than talk about each book individually.…
View PostMy Thoughts on A Dream So Wicked (Entangled With Fae, Book 5) by Tessonja Odette

The next book in the Entangled With Fae by Tessonja Odette series has came out called A Dream So Wicked. Or will come out very soon, as the paperback releases early compared to the electronic version. This is a standalone book in a connected series, so you don't have to read the others before you start this book. Though there are mentions of characters from the other books in this one including Maisie, Franco, and Ember. Each book in this series is a retelling of a classic story, this one in particular is Sleeping Beauty. I did receive an advanced reader copy (ARC) of the book in exchange for this review, but my thoughts are my own.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, Book 1) by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is the first book in the Empyrean series. I learned about this book through TikTok and while I made a vow not to start any more unfinished book series, I didn't want to risk spoilers and was curious about this story. And let's just say I was blown away by this story. It is classified as romantic fantasy, but it is an epic fantasy at that. I seriously loved this book as I couldn't put it now. Literally, I pulled an all-nighter to finish it. I'm going to be giving my thoughts with some light spoilers, but quick review: this is seriously one of the best books I've read in a long time. I found little fault with it and I can't wait to read the rest of this series.…
View PostUnpacking: A Story Through Moving

Unpacking by Witch Beam is a cute, cozy game where you follow a character from their childhood home through starting her own family. It tells a story of hope, hurt, and healing through major life events through subtle storytelling as you unpack the character with each move. After reach chapter, you get a snapshot of whatever room you were last in with a hint to what's going on. And you get the sense of what truly makes a house, or an apartment, a home.…
View PostTurned Myself into Princess Zelda from Tears of the Kingdom Using Body Paint

It’s been a minute since I’ve body painted, since my eight-year-old ringlight died. But I finally have working lights! As my webcam keeps glitching, I can’t actually record it right now. But, at the very least, I can paint in my free time. And since I’ve been addicted with playing…
