For the almost two years, I have been living in a six foot by six foot room. That was supposed to be double that in length but was converted by the previous home owners into a massive closet. That’s pretty unusable when the entire room is taken up by your bed so you can’t get into the closets. The arrangement was supposed to be temporarily. Like a six month arrangement, then a lot happened between my ex-roommate and me that basically forced me to be late on bills and basically go bankrupt destroying my credit in the process. I had found a place to move to as well but it just didn’t make sense to move due to those reasons. So when the lease ran up at the old place I worked my hardest to rebuild that credit, get back on track with bills, and save money staying in what I like to refer to as the Harry Potter Closet at my mom’s house. Which took an additional year to accomplish but I did it. So I put in my application for the apartment I had wanted… and I got it!
I’ve had Pixie, a leggy/bug eyed pup now since 2013, which is 6 years. I can’t believe how fast time has flown since she has entered my life. I’ve had a dog my entire time, before Pixie we had a family dog named Sadie. But she wasn’t my dog, she was the family dog. Pixie on the other hand is my responsibility. There’s also Winnie, but she’s the family dog so as much as I love her, she doesn’t really count. After she entered our lives in 2015, Pixie became my sole responsibility and there was a lot I was unprepared for even though I already had her in my life for a little over a year at that point. So I thought I would just share those things with you guys on the blog after I saw a very similar post on From Roses.View Post
Something I’ve been trying to do lately is getting back to my old hobbies. After high school I kind of left them behind mainly due to limited time and poor mental health. These hobbies being drawing, writing, and reading. Now I also paint, which I have not stopped though I do so sparingly as I don’t need a million canvas especially right now while I’m in a tiny space. And as much fun as makeup is I don’t want that to be my only hobby. So I’m revisiting the ones I left in the past to see if they interest me again now that my mental health isn’t as god awful.View Post
I love dogs, I have always loved dogs. In fact “dog” was my very first word and it was what I wished for every year at Christmas until my parents finally caved when I was in Kindergarten and got my first dog named Sadie who was a German Shepherds mix. Probably one of the reasons I love German Shepherds and would love to get another some day. But right now I’m in small townhouse and soon an apartment, so a big German Shepherd isn’t in the cards at the moment. Anyways, I want to share more about the dogs in my life on my blog. If you didn’t know I have an entire page about them in my about section and they have their own Instagram. So today inspired by From Roses, I’m going to be sharing a few fun facts about each of the pack members.View Post
One thing I told myself at the start of the year is I would “age” up my wardrobe. Meaning I would actually start to dress to reflect my job. I’m a senior technical lead for a healthcare IT firm working in downtown Minneapolis. One thing I swear makes any look more professional looking is a good watch. Over the years I have tried to get watches, but ultimately always stopped wearing them typically due to my metal allergy. About two years ago, I was introduced to JORD Watches which are crafted with wood not metal for the main material of the band. I wanted to get one in the worst way but couldn’t justify the cost, so when they offered to do a collaboration I was beyond excited.View Post
Maybe it’s the approaching Spring season, but I felt like changing up some things in my life. Sometimes in the past if I put it out into the universe it made me more motivated to actually do those things. While other times it had the complete opposite effect. Not sure which will be the true statement at the moment, but we shall find out within the next month or so if I stick to it. So what are these relatively small changes that I’m making?View Post
I haven’t done a mental health post in a while, unless you count my “This is Fine” life update from last week. Mainly as I didn’t have anything to say, and I’m sorry if this post is jumbled or sounds off. As I’m writing this post I’m in the peek of a hypomanic phase of my Bipolar II Disorder. And rarely can I ever tell one has happened but this one was as clear as day… mud… whatever. So I thought I would just write about my experience with this phase.View Post
