I don’t normally write these types of blog posts but this one is just something I wanted to bring up. Recently Huda Beauty released their new setting powder called Easy Bake Loose Powder. Cute name… but um there’s something seriously wrong with that. For starters, Huda Beauty’s whole branding is around her culture and the desert so this name is just out of the blue for them. Second, there’s an indie brand called Beauty Bakerie that’s whole brand is around the baking theme. Now there’s a huge difference between being inspired by something and out right copying from another brand.
So let’s go over in more details just how wrong this release was.
Let’s start with the promo pictures for each of the releases. The first one is Beauty Bakerie with their Flour Setting Powder, and the second is Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Powder.
Come on Huda Beauty! That’s so on the nose of copying from Beauty Bakerie. It’s like when you are in high school copying off your friends homework and your friend goes, “Make sure to make it just a little bit different so we don’t get caught.”
Now there are some differences. Beauty Bakerie Flour Setting Flour comes in four different shades: translucent, yellow, pink, and brown each priced at $24 for 14 g of product. While the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Powder comes in eight shades, but I could not find how much product is included in the packaging just that overall including the packaging it weights 125 g. And the packaging itself is very different as well. Beauty Bakerie has a circular packaging with a bronze looking top. While Huda Beauty has a square container with a black lid that matches their foundation and most of their other products.
Now Huda Beauty has not addressed this but Beauty Bakerie did respond about this, taking the higher road.
beautybakeriemakeup: To everyone “@“ us from her page: always know there’s enough cake for everyone🍰 Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That’s why we’re better not bitter 🍧👩🏾🍳🍨🍭👨🏼🍳🍪🍩👩🏻🍳 #sweetlife
I am planning on getting the Beauty Bakerie setting powder as well as a lot of other products from them for a One Brand Tutorial since I really want to try out their stuff. That should be coming in the next few months. But what do you guys think? Are you going to try the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Powder, or avoid it?
Love ya,
