Dreaming of an Industrial/Rustic Living Room

One thing when I move in April that I’m going to try my hardest to save up for to achieve is creating an apartment that actually looks like something out of an HGTV show or magazine. I know I won’t be able to do it right away but I’m tried of having a “college” like place. And by that I mean a bunch of random things thrown together that looks more like a place I crash rather than a place I live in. So the first room I want to tackle in the new place is the living room as this will also double as my study most likely. So throughout the house I want to have a industrial yet rustic feel.

Luckily I don’t have to get a lot of big furniture to do this, I just need to update the existing things I have to go together and get a few more pieces to tie the whole thing together. That means painting my bookshelves to match, getting covers for my chairs to more closely match the couch and getting some lights that tie the place together. Depending on where I go I’m probably also going to get those fake brick or wood plank wall coverings that are like stickers to help achieve this aesthetic. It’s something I’ve always wanted but never had. As my mom has more of a modern style and my current place is just a mixture of everything my roommate has and then I have. It works, it’s just not something I would seriously dream of having if I was designing a place.

Of course I’m also going to overload the place with accessories and accents, as the minimalist design is not my taste. I love making a place looked well lived in. From personal items to tasteful decorations that go very together. And I’m planning on doing more home decor related posts personally after the move, but there should be some here and there leading up to that. As well as other home related things. So I hope you all enjoy that!
