e.l.f. Cosmetics Flawless Finish Foundation SPF 15 Porcelain & Alabaster Review

Continuing on my saga of testing out all of the foundations that I got recently to find my new go-to foundations that’s easy of the budget, I started testing out the e.l.f. cosmetics flawless finish foundation. In this collection there are eight shades ranging from Porcelain to Coco, which is not great at all in this day and age they need to come out with more shades. But I do have the shades Porcelain and Alabaster, which I am testing out. Each bottle contains 0.8 oz and costs $6.

Claims of the Flawless Finish Foundation:

Achieve a flawless complexion with the silky smooth e.l.f. Cosmetics Flawless Finish Foundation. Cruelty free and vegan.Benefits:

  • Lightweight and oil-free formula blends in naturally for a beautiful semi-matte finish
  • Applies easily and lasts all day for visibly brighter and radiant looking skin
  • Restores uneven skin textures and tones
  • SPF 15 protects your skin against harmful sun damage

I got the two shades because it’s impossible to shop foundations online and even at the drugstore or Target, as there aren’t testers nor skin swatches. And since I didn’t want to get spoiled about someone else’s review, I didn’t read any blogs about this foundation so that’s why we have the two lightest sounding foundations though apparently there is also a Light Ivory but it was at the end of the list for Ulta so I don’t know where it fell between these two. So I avoided it and just got Porcelain and Alabaster.

The flawless finish foundation comes in a frosted rectangular bottle with a black pump, and reminds me a little bit of the NARS foundation packaging. The formula is by no means the same but the packaging just reminds me of that. And less like a cheap drugstore product.elf foundation

Positives:

  • This foundation is medium to full coverage so it does cover up any imperfection on your skin and make all the textures even.
  • Easy to apply and blend into the skin with brush or beauty sponge.
  • Pump is fairly easy to use and doesn’t take much effort to get the product out of the bottle.

Negatives:

  • This is not a lightweight foundation, it’s rather heavy and you can feel it sitting on your skin even for hours after application. So if you don’t like that feeling you won’t love this foundation.
  • I did notice it looked heavy on my skin even after setting it and putting other face products on that typically make my foundation look better. Most likely from building up the foundation.
  • Settles into fine lines.

Overall Thoughts

This probably won’t end up being my go-to foundation but I can see this foundation being in the mix just for me to use up the product. Though it is heavy on the skin, I don’t mind that. And the heavy look could just be error in application as I did build up the foundation for the coverage. So you could do a trade off there to avoid this from happening. Even with one layer of foundation I could feel it, so that’s not going way regardless. Another thing that just isn’t my favorite about this foundation is that it’s a tad too dark for me. I can play it up with setting powders and whatnot or go for a more tan looked, so if you’re pale like me that might be a serious draw back if you don’t want to go for a tan look.

I always am hit or miss with them but their brushes are some of my favorites especially for eye-shadow.
