When I moved to my new apartment, one thing that I had to address was my eyeshadow palettes. Over the last year or so, I went overboard with getting palettes. A lot of them I have not reviewed or I’ve only reached for once or twice due to the amount of palettes I have gathered. And when I moved, I found I didn’t really have a spot for all of them. I was considering just leaving them on top of my new little beauty space but in the end decided to put them in the top drawer of my dresser. And there were a two major things I noticed in doing this:
- There was not enough space for all them.
- Some palettes were just way too big so it made organizing impossible.
And while I had already gotten rid of a bunch (mostly expired ones) before the move, there were more I needed to say goodbye to. So, I thought I would just go over some of the ones I donated, gave away, or tossed out during my most recent move.
Note: I did not take pictures during this process as I was just trying to get it over with. Nor is this every palette I got rid of as there were about thirty in total I parted ways with. These are just the stand outs.
James Charles x Morphe Artistry Palette
Even though this palette is incredible, I have a lot of colorful palettes with similar shades. Also it’s just way to big to fit into my palette drawer. Plus after the James Charles scandal, I just haven’t had any desire to pick up this palette over my other rainbow palettes.
Morphe 39A Palette
I’m going to miss this palette being honest, but it’s just way too big to fit into my collection and if I’m being honest I never think to reach for this palette over my other ones. There were several shades in this palette that I don’t have elsewhere in my collection but considering I hardly reached for those I don’t feel too bad about saying goodbye to this palette.
Urban Decay Naked Heat
A gorgeous palette, but I only used it a handful of times. And every time the looks always turned out the same no matter what I did. So it didn’t lead itself to variety and if I’m going to have a palette in my collection, I want to be able to create a multitude of looks not just one. Plus, I’m just not into the Naked collection anymore. There are better things on the market even from Urban Decay.
BH Cosmetics Zodiac (Original and In Love) Palettes
I got a lot of use out of this palette and used it for an entire zodiac series. But on a regular basis I wasn’t reaching for this palette when I was looking for more muted colored makeup looks. The formula is incredible and I would recommend it. But I have tons of palettes, so after two years of this palette it has been removed from my collection.
Morphe 35O Matte and Shimmer Palettes
After three or four years of having these palettes I decided it was finally time to part ways with these palettes. I haven’t reached for them in two years, they are technically considered expired, and I have a bunch of other newer palettes that have a similar color story. I did love these two palettes, but it just was time to let them go.
Zoella x ColourPop Brunch Date Palette
Though I did surprisingly enjoy this palette, I have a lot of neutral palettes and the pop of blue wasn’t a great color. It was patchy and I had issues adding it into looks. If this palette was a little more unique in it’s color story I may have considered keeping it, but that wasn’t the case.
Bretman x ColourPop Lit & Wet Palette
Another two palettes from ColourPop I parted ways with were the Lit and Wet palettes. With the introduction of the 9 pan palettes I basically had those two palettes twice. Sure there are some tones in those palettes not in the 9 pan monochrome palettes, but those I have elsewhere in my collection. Since space is limited and I never once reached for those two palettes I donated them elsewhere.
So yeah, those are the standouts. I know I got rid of a bunch more but I can’t recall what those were as they were unmemorable. In the future, I’m going to be way better about what comes into my collection as there is very limited space in the drawer. And I still might declutter more. As I did not go too harshly into my neutral palettes. Though I probably should. And bring that total down to like five palettes max, but I’m not sure on that yet. If I do, I’ll make another one of these posts.
