Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery takes place prior to the time of Harry Potter attending the School for Witchcraft and Wizardy, so some of the professors you encounter are not ones that were teaching while he was there. And considering often during your classes you will be asked questions in regards to your professors, here is a little guide to help you answer all of those burning questions. Now as not all of the years have been released, we do not have character models yet for these professors and I’m also including Filch, Madam Pince, Professor Dumbledore, Madam Pomfrey, and Hagrid since sometimes they are mentioned as well during these quizzes of your Hogwarts knowledge.
As years are released, I will be coming back to this post to update where possible so it’s as up to date as possible. And I have a feeling the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor will change a hand full of times, since I doubt the fifth year professor will stay the professor for the reminder of the years. The position is cursed after all.
Your flying instructor at Hogwarts is Madam Rolanda Hooch who is also the Quidditch referee and coach. She has yellow hawk-like eyes and spiky grey hair. She has served under the following headmasters: Armando Dippet and Albus Dumbledore by the time your character attends the school.
Professor Filius Flitwick is the head of Ravenclaw and charms professor. He is part-goblin and part-wizard, and often in class can be found standing on a mountain of books. If you are a Ravenclaw, his office door is always open and if you’re in a state he’ll even bring out some cupcakes and make them dance to cheer you up.
Silvanus Kettlburn taught Care of Magical Creatures and has lost numberous limb (s) during classes and deals with dangerous creatures. In 1993, when Harry Potter was attending classes he retired to enjoy the rest of his time with his remaining limbs.
Professor Septima Vector is the instructor for Arithmancy and is a strict witch. We have not encountered with professor as of year four, but is mentioned in quizzes by Merula and Rowan during your other classes.
She is the Head of Gryffindor and the instructor of Transfigurations. When she is not teaching she is the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. Minerva McGonagall is a registered Animagus being able to transform herself into a grey tabby cat during Dumbledore’s tutelage. Apparently when she was attending the school the sorting hat had a Hatshall debating on putting her into Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, but ultimately placing her in Gryffindor.
Aurora Sinistra is the Astrology professor. She is known to give large about of homework to students in their fifth year and any who continue on in her course their remaining years at Hogwarts. In Hogwarts Mystery, you do not meet this professor until your sixth year at Hogwarts nor see them until then. But is mentioned during quizzes that occur during your classes.
Professor Severus Snape serves as your potion professor, a position previously held by Horace Slughorn. He is also the head of Slytherin and has very high standards for students. Ultimately wanting the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts but only received that position during Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts.
Sybill Trelawney is the Divination professor and conceived the prophecy of the Chosen One that caused Harry Potter’s parents to die at the heads of Voldemort. The prophecy also predicted Neville Longbottom as being the Chosen One, but it was Voldemort’s action that decided which would be marked. Professor Trelawney every year predicts a student will die and we have not met her in the game thus far.
Herbert Beery name appears quite often in quizzes, he is a Herbology professor along with Professor Pomona Sprout. However, you only encounter Professor Sprout as she is head of the department. Pomona Sprout is also head of the house Hufflepuff.
Cuthbert Binns is the History of Magic instructor, who also happens to be a ghost. He apparently died in front of the staffroom fire one day then got up to teach and has been ever since. You will start to encounter this professor during chapter three of Year Five. At the time he was added, his animation for character model is glitchy as you can see from the image above.
Update they have corrected the ghost glitch, so above is the non-glitched Professor Binns.
Filch is the caretaker of Hogwarts and has a cat named Mrs. Norris who is the only thing he loves other than shackles that are in his office. Filch is a squib meaning he was born into magic but cannot perform it himself. He hates Peeves the Poitergeist.
Hagrid is the keeper of the keys and groundskeeper at Hogwarts. Hagrid lives on a hut located on the castle grounds. He is half giant and was once a student until he was expelled for having dangerous creatures in the castle and suspicion of opening the Chamber of Secrets though this was Tom Riddle.
Madam Irma Pince is the librarian at Hogwarts. She also oversees Study Hall. She is extremely protective of the school’s books and has stated she would rather lock up the library then allow any student to touch them. Most students find her unpleasant.
Madam Poppy Pomfrey is the matron of Hogwarts and is a very competent nurse. She is very possessive over the patients in her care and insists they rest instead of having visitors.
Previously a Transfiguration professor that taught Minerva McGonagall, now Ablus Dumbledore is the Headmaster of Hogwarts. And considered to be quite fashionable according to Andre Egwe in his fashion quizzes. Dumbledore has a phoenix named Fawkes.
In your fifth year at Hogwarts, Madam Patricia Rakepick will become your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. She has a niffler named Sickleworth and is a world famous curse breaker. She was troublemaker but also the top of her class. She is only a professor at Hogwarts during your fifth year, not giving spoilers on what happens to make her no longer your professor. But it’s in a similar matter to Professor Quirrell… though not Lord Voldemort.
