One brand that I’ve been curious about trying for a while, but somehow have never tried is Kat Von D. Maybe because I generally shop as Ulta rather than Sephora, but let’s be honest I generally shop online so that’s not really an excuse. I just don’t know why I don’t shop her brand more, I watch a ton of YouTubers review her products and follow her Instagram, and this Alchemist palette somehow got me to finally test it out. Now I’m not a holosexual (person who is obsessed/sexual attracted to holographic colors, a term created by Simply Nailogical), but I do enjoy a good holographic thing every now and then. And does this palette do it for me!
About the Alchemist Holographic Palette
This palette was inspired by the ancient science of Alchemy, the art of transforming natural materials into a precious elixir, this hybrid palette is part top coat and part transformer, so it’s perfect for layering and blending to experiment with different makeup effects. This is also a passion project of Kat Von D as this took seven years to create and months perfecting the intricate letter “A” and decorative scollwork featured on the front of the palette, which I absolutely love. Even if I didn’t love the palette, which I do, I would display this on a vanity as A is my true first name letter.
The palette has four gorgeous shades, each are 0.05 oz and costs $38. Which doesn’t seem like a lot but a little goes a long was. The shades are the following: Emerald (green), Saphyre (blue), Amethyst (ultra-violet), Opal (pink). They were formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthaletes. And of course as I am a cruelty free makeup enthusiast, this completely cruelty free and vegan.
What is the KVD Alchemist Holographic Palette?
You can use this palette for colorful highlighter or as a eye, lip, and face transformer palette.
What does the KVD Alchemist Palette do?
This palette has four holographic shades that adds a radiant, special effect by layering these shades over any eye shadow or lipstick. It was formulated with double dimension technology according to Sephora. Meaning that it’s packed with 360° refractive pearls, dipped in a prismatic coating, to deliver twice the transforming power. Each shadow catches the light from every angle for a spectrum of luminizing effects. Which makes it perfect for customizing finishes and artistic expression.
As stated earlier, you can also use this for a killer highlighter as it is super iridescence. A little does go a long way with this palette. I hardly find highlighters that show on my pale skin, and one swipe was all it took for this to show beautifully on my skin. And I do believe this would look gorgeous on all skin types.
Overall Thoughts
I seriously love this palette from Kat Von D! I’m seriously considering making a lip art video using this palette to create an oil slick look. I’m not 100% sure if I’m going to do that but at least just for playing around with makeup when I get bored I will definitely do that. Let me know if you would be interested in that look and what your thoughts on this palette are.
