I’ve tried personal shoppers before (mainly StitchFix) and generally didn’t find the experience for me. The pieces were way out of my usual price range and I only ended up keeping one or two pieces. Either because those were the only ones I could afford, or were the only ones that I actually liked. So, after seeing both Safiya Nygaard and LaurDIY both try Amazon Personal Shopper, I thought I would give it a go myself.
Overview of Personal Shopper From Prime Wardrobe
This is a program Amazon offers Prime members through their mobile Amazon App, where stylists pick items based off your style profile which consists of style, brand, fit, and budget preferences. You can also take a Tinder style fashion “Love it or leave it”, where you swipe through photos of clothes to help your stylist understand your taste better. I found the items that appeared in my “Love it or leave it” did not match my profile at all. But when I got my stylist picks they were actually spot on.
That’s another thing, you are given multiple selections after a few days to preview (probably my favorite feature since I can pick the pieces I like) and can select up to eight items to try on. If there are different options, you can switch them out. However, you need to be mindful that you’re selecting the right size doing this as it will change on you (something I didn’t pay close enough attention to on one of the items). This order takes about a week to arrive, then you get another week to decide what you want to keep. Once you’ve decided, you need to checkout what you’re keeping and returning, or you will be charged for all the items. As you are not charged when the order is placed, since you have a seven day try-out period. If you’re returning anything, you just put those items into the resealable bag or box included in the package then drop it off at your local UPS location.
I ended up picking out five items (prices range from $16 to $55), which are insanely spot-on to the style I enjoy which is a mixture of comfy and edgy. I ended up picking out/trying on the following items:
Rocket Dog Shelinda Pablo Pu Fashion Boots ($54.83)
I got the size 6.5 US. I love the details on these boots, and they totally look like a miniature version of ones my mom got me for Christmas. Which I love wearing, so going into Spring I can see myself wearing these more often whenever I leave the house, which isn’t a lot since I work from home now.
Levi’s 711 Skinny Jeans ($39.99)
These are mid-rise, black ripped jeans in the size medium. Normally I go with short since my legs are not very long, but those weren’t available so I ended up getting regular which sometimes works for me. These are super comfortable, and I really enjoy them so I’m going to be keeping these.
Daily Ritual Lightweight Lived-In Cotton Pocket V-Neck T-Shirt ($16.03)
This was presented to me in the shade light-blue which isn’t really something I go for. Then I saw an green camo patterned one and selected it without realizing that the size was XX-Large… I’m a size medium, so that error was on my part. So, I will not be keeping this one and will be exchanging it for another of this style as I do like the shirt overall and wear these regularly.
Bella Luxx Paneled T-Shirt Dress ($44.65)
This one I wasn’t sure about originally but it’s t-shirt material which I like and has an interesting design. Plus I’m not opposed to dresses, I just don’t wear them as much anymore. The dress is a size medium. I’m not going to be keeping this dress as it fits like a bag.
Moon River Contrast Stitch Mini Skirt ($50.48)
I don’t wear a lot of skirts. Mainly as I can never find one that fits me right. They always end up riding all the way up to inappropriate levels, so I generally avoid them. But I thought I would give this one a try. It’s cute and totally something I could see myself wearing. Unfortunately, this one is too small for me as I cannot zip it all the way up.
