Is Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer Worth the Hype?

I have been trying to limit the number of beauty gurus I watch on YouTube, mainly as if I watch so many videos on a similar product I tend to break my low buy. One of the gurus I still watch is Tati Westbrook and in almost every video the primer she raves about is the Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer. So I wanted to ask is this primer worth the hype?

This primer is supposed to blur out your pores, wrinkles, and fine lines. As well as give you a youthful appearance, while prepping your face for the rest of your makeup application. It is also infused with vitamins C & E and green bean extract to make your skin more moisturized while also firming your face for an overtime smoother appearance. So skin care mixed in with the primer. It’s a lightweight feel and as a light powder scent to it.

About some of the ingredients according to Tarte:

  • Vitamin E: Natural preservative that also acts as an anti-inflammatory emollient and antioxidant
  • Vitamin C: Antioxidant that fights free radical damage and premature signs of aging while brightening skin
  • Green bean extract: Known for anti-wrinkle and pore minimizing properties
  • Mineral pigments: Soothe and soften skin

I have been trying this primer for over a month considering it has skin care infused into it to see what happens over time with this primer. Before we dig into what happened with the primer here are just a few more details. This primer costs $39 for 15mL or 0.5 fl oz of product. And it lasts for 12 months before it expires.

As I mentioned this can be used as skin care which has been something I’ve been using this primer for most of the time. It just makes my skin feel so soft. And the fine lines in my forehead are practically non-existent. I mean they are still there but you can hardly notice them anymore. Before they were noticeable with and without makeup. So that alone I love this product. I don’t notice much of a different when it comes to applying foundation as all of the products I’ve tried apply the same. But using this as skincare has been the best discovery so far of 2019.

I’m going to keep using this as skincare, but I might try to find something else as a primer. Probably either the e.l.f. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer or Cover FX Gripping Primer + Firming if those ever come back in stock. If you’ve tried either of those products let me know which one you prefer or want me to try out in the future.
