Still on my Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild kick since I’ve been playing it quite a bit. Haven’t gone to the other two divine beasts, so I ended up doing the Hylian Homeowner sidequest. Which gives Link a home to keep his prized possessions, a set place to cook and sleep.
You need to talk to Bolson Construction Company in Hateno Village, who is in the middle of demolishing a house. Bolson will intially offer the house to you for 50,000 rupees but reduce it down to 3,000 rupees and 30 wood stacks. Once you hand over the materials and rupees Bolson will throw in a housewarming gift of a weapon mount. This isn’t the end of the quest. As there’s still a lot to do to fully furnish your new house. For 100 rupees each upgrade, you can complete the house. These are all of the things that you need to purchase in order to finish the side quest and make the house fully stocked:
- Weapon Mount (2)
- Bow Mount (3)
- Shield Mount (3)
- Bed (1)
- Lighting (1)
- Door (1)
- Nameplate (1)
- Flowerbed (1)
- Trees (1)
- Sign (1)
So in total all of the upgrades cost an additional 1,400 rupees. If you have The Champion’s Ballad DLC, Link will get a picture of the champions that can be hung up in the house on the wall near his bed. I do not have have this at the moment, but will most likely get the DLCs at some point as I’ve been really enjoying the game so more content I’ll sign up for that.
I do find it interesting that no one in Hateno village recognizes that you live there and treat Link like he’s still a traveler. As for what I leave hanging up in my house so far are the two “unbreakable” weapons that I got from the conclusion of the Divine Beast Ruta and Rudania Main Quests. Could I keep them in my inventory? Yes. But I kind of like them as prizes in my house rather than weapons to break. The “unbreakable” weapons will go in there as well when I finally get those and I’ll probably just fill the gaps with anything else I like that I want to safe keep.
