Let’s Talk About… Painting

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you would know that I love painting. My favorite type of paint is acrylic as it’s something that I’ve used the most. Some day I would love to improve my skills with oil paint as it takes longer to dry so it would make painting on large scale a lot easier. But I have not master that skilled to a point where I would be happy sharing any of those paintings. It just doesn’t react the way I’m used to.

Currently I’m working on updating and going through all of my artwork so it goes together as all my paintings are mismatch. But I’m trying to update everything to create a uniform theme. My most recent painting is an updated heart with flowers that I originally made in high school. It was my first painting that I did on my own that wasn’t for an assignment. I’m also trying to come up with and design two others that match the theme to go with this painting. I did one in the past that matched this theme but the ribcage overall was too small for the canvas. So I’m just going to redo that one to be bigger… but I have been thinking that instead of ribcage filled with flowers that I do a pair of lungs completely made out of flowers that match the colors from the heart painting. Just because I already painted and filmed that one so doing the exact same painting so it fills the canvas this time isn’t something I’m positive I want to do.

In addition to updating all the paintings to match and getting rid of ones that I cannot stand and don’t want to keep anymore, or storing the ones that just don’t go with the overall new theme of my room… I’m trying to update my entire house to have a uniform theme. And by entire house, I mean all my things like office space, bedroom, and bathroom. I’m not touching my roommate’s stuff. One thing I want to learn how to do is refinish the chairs I got from my grandma as the flowers as they are just aren’t my style. I want something more clean and grey/blue tone. But I do not know how to do that at all and I don’t want to ruin the chairs. I also want to just get new furniture all together as I’ve had the same furniture my entire life but they are just too big and bulky. Plus paint doesn’t really stick to them anymore as I’ve repainted them multiple times. The paint just chips off and looks uneven, so I think it’s time to start afresh. So this is going to be a slow process as I don’t have the kind of money just to instantly upgrade all my furniture and have the other furniture donated, disposed of, or sold.

I kind of just want to start having want looks like a “grown up” house rather than a teenage/college house. I’ve been watching a lot of Kelly Eden’s videos on YouTube and just have been really inspired by her to get back into painting/embrace my aesthetic whatever that my be. I’ve dyed my hair red which is something I’ve wanted to do since high school and I don’t think I will go back to blond for a long time. And I’ve already started changing my wardrobe but I still have a ways to go. Plus I don’t even know where my aesthetic lies. Like what specific style: goth, pastel, steampunk, hipster, etc. And I want to update my blog design to match that, but I don’t know what it is exactly so I don’t want to update anything until then. I don’t know. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
