Magical Readathon 2020: O.W.L.s TLR

Advertisements

I’ve never done a readathon before, but after going a blogging pod over on Twitter, I’ve been more curious about these. Which is precisely where I learned about the Magical Readathon through Belle Rose Reads. Basically it’s a way of organizing your reading list, where you a book or multiple books from start to finish without reading other books in between or taking long breaks. When I’ve been into series in the past, if you want more information regarding the Magical Readathon is, you can watch the video here and go to their official page here.

The career that I ended up choosing was: Auror.

So in this readathon, I have to complete my O.W.L.s for an Auror by following the prompts. These are what I was given:

Charms

Lumos Maxima: White Cover.

I wanted to stick with books that I already had in my collection, and this one is going to be wildly stupid of me to do. But I’m going to read the entirely of A Song of Ice and Fire because the last book A Dance With Dragons has a white cover, and I want to read the other books first. So, technically only A Dance With Dragons fits into this prompt but I’m reading four additional books just to get to that one.

Defence Against the Dark Arts

Grindylows: Book Set at the Sea/Coast

For this one I chose The Last Song by Nicholas Spark as it takes place in Wrightsville Beach, a small beach town in Georgia. I have read this before, but I don’t mind reading it again as it’s been years.

Herbology

Mimbulus Mimbletonia: Title Starts with an I

You know I haven’t read Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke in many years, but considering they are the only books I have that start with the letter I, I might as well just read all three.

Potions

Shrinking Solution: Book Under 150 Pages

I’m going to be reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, and granted only one book is in the prompt I will also be reading Through the Looking Glass since it’s another book under 150 pages. And my copy of the two books are together.

Transfiguration

Animagus Lecture: Book/series that Includes Shapeshifting

I’m going to re-read the entire Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare for this one as Tessa Gray is a shapeshifter, and it’s one of the main features in this series. After I’m going to read Chain of Gold as it’s the sequel series to that one, I don’t know if that part involves shapeshifting but the first one does. And considering it’s just one additional book, I think it fits in.

I’ll update you guys on how it’s going, as this is probably going to take me awhile. Probably all of May to complete realistically, but considering it’s fourteen books with the majority of them being over 700 pages. I don’t know what else to say, but this is going to be interesting. Considering I haven’t read this much in ages (like six months when I marathoned all of The Shadowhunters Chronicles).

Are you participating in the Magical Readathon? What are some of the books in your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
