Makeup Revolution Conceal & Design Full Coverage Conceal & Contour Review

Even though I’m on a very restricted budget, I am still giving myself forty dollars for anything extra that my come up that I need. Like makeup remover or concealer if I run out. And that’s exactly what happened. My Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Concealer and one of my Tarte Shape Tapes has no product remaining. And my other concealers are starting to run low as well since I use that on a daily basis, whereas foundation I do not. But getting one shape tape would mean I’m almost out of my budget on just one item, and sure I could get another Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Concealer as I did enjoy that but they don’t have a shade that light enough for my under eye area to brighten it up. So I went digging through the cruelty free brands at Ulta that I would classify as drugstore, and came across the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Design Full Coverage Conceal & Contour. Which has a name very similar to Tape Shape’s full name and has a similar applicator from the looks of it online. Makeup Revolution is known to make a lot of dupe or copied products, and I figured why not give it a try.

I know a lot of people aren’t fans of dupe brands. I have to say it slightly bothers me as well cause they are copying high-end brands then making a knock off version rather than coming up with something of their own. And sometimes you can tell where they cut corners in production to bring those items to you. In the instance of the chocolate palettes, Makeup Revolution’s version are slightly more chalky. But I go with theirs as I’m allergic to the original, so I just know I have to deal with it if I want something similar to the original without the deserve to scratch out my eyes. It’s a trade off but in that instance I go with it. So will this concealer meet the expectations of Tarte Shape Tape? Or what corners did they cut to bring it to everyone for a cheaper price tag?

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Design Full Coverage Conceal & Contour comes in 18 shades ranging from fair to dark with a variety of undertones with plenty of options for both sides of the skin tone spectrum rather than just favoring one (Cough… cough… Tarte Shape Tape Foundation). Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer on the other hand has fourteen shades. So there’s more variety with the Makeup Revolution Contour Concealer than with Tarte. I mean not a whole lot more but still enough to add several more undertones to each “range” of skin tone. The shade I ended up getting was C1 (Fair with neutral undertones). Which I liked that they went with numbers for the shades rather than names as names brands give are not the greatest… I’m going to do a post on that in the future.

Anyways… On to the actual review.

The applicator is extremely like the Tarte Shape Tape; however, the opening is bigger so it doesn’t take off the excess. Which means you can get quite a bit of extra concealer, to work with or more than you honestly want. But once you get used to that, it’s not that hard to work with. As for how it sits under the eyes and around the face, it does sink into your fine lines and show off those creases if you don’t set the concealer. I often don’t set my concealer as I wear it most of the time without anything else, so that would mean I would have to bring a setting powder with me if I were to apply this while at work. Not the most annoying thing but it’s just one more thing to think about when I’m half awake in the morning. ‘Cause I often put my makeup on when I’m at the office instead of before arriving.

So I would most likely stick to one of my other favorite concealers that doesn’t require that for those days. But for weekends, when I like to spend time and go full glam I would use this concealer with setting powder. But I love the look of the concealer otherwise. I would say this concealer is a bit of a hybrid of the Tarte Shape Tape and ColourPop No Filter Concealer. In that the applicator and color is just like the shape tape, but settles like the ColourPop No Filter Concealer without the oxidation.
