NYX Cosmetics recently received a ’90s nostalgia shadow palette that’s an exclusive collaboration with ASOS. This palette is supposed to be a mixture of 12 rich and velvety-soft shadows that are edgy, loud, and angsty. From matte oxblood to metallic bronze and shimmery blue-brown. I love grunge makeup and the tones that fall into this range even if I don’t wear that style all of the time.
About the Palette
Now this palette is more on the mid-range side of things at the price point of $25. Each shade has 0.03 oz of product, which is typical of a NYX palette of this size comparing it to other palettes I have from them. The Rebel with a Cause palette does include a full-sized mirror that is of good quality. One thing I am a bit sad of about this palette is I wish that the palette matched the box it came in. As that’s truly what drew me to the palette, but instead it’s just a solid black palette with the same font for the palette name. I got this palette off of NYX Cosmetics website but as mentioned this is an exclusive at ASOS.

Overall Thoughts
These shadows are long lasting, highly pigmented without a lot of kick-back or fall out when grabbing or applying the shadows, and are buildable if you don’t want to go all in at once with a shade. I didn’t have any issues with applying the metallics with either my finger, dry or wet brush. Though I do have to say I think applying with your finger or wet brush for the metallics is better. But that’s typically always the case to get the full effect of those shadows. Not always, but typically.
The price is a bit up there for twelve shadows, but considering it is an exclusive product for ASOS I don’t mind it so much. But I do have to say it would be more worth it if the palette inside the packaging was more decorated as compared to just a glossy black to make it stand out more. And for the price point, I would’ve expected it especially considering at that same price you could get other palettes of theirs that have more elaborate packaging on their palettes (In Your Element Collection palettes or Machinist Collection palettes).
Overall, I love the formula of the palette but I do wish the packaging was better. I would recommend this palette if you love the grunge style for makeup. What do you think of this palette? Or what is your favorite grunge palette if you haven’t seen or tried NYX cosmetics eyeshadow formula before?
