I haven’t done a product review in a while and originally I wanted to start doing these with a video as well, but I have bronchitis and can hardly talk without coughing. I am on medication for that but wanted to spare you from listening to that. But enough about my illness that should be gone (hopefully!) in another week. So I recently saw at Ulta the Total Control Foundation from NYX, which isn’t new but I wanted to give it a try as I haven’t really been trying anything new lately other than the Manny MUA x Jeffree Star Collab from the other week.
This foundation is supposed to have a sheer-to-full coverage and a velvety, matte finish. More drops of the foundation will give you more coverage. So you can build it up to the level you enjoy. I got this in the shade Alabaster, which matches my pale skin at the moment but come summer it mostly likely won’t. And this is the second lightest shade. Now it is still slightly off but the next shade was all out and too dark from what I could tell with the tester. So I’m just going to use slightly more bronzer to correct it.
The foundation comes in this minimalist frosted bottle with a dropper built into the lid. Which acts similar to a pump and helps you get a more controlled amount of foundation. As for the formula, I really like this. I find it goes on smoothly with a beauty blender/makeup sponge and gives a good amount of coverage when built up. As recently, I’ve been more into a more minimal makeup for my work makeup, I don’t use a lot of product. But when I’m filming or wanting more coverage, I love that I can build this up without it looking caked on or having separation. You could also use a brush to apply this foundation; however, I don’t as I prefer using a makeup sponge (and not the weird alternatives of that…. hard boil egg, silisponge, etc.).
This foundation costs $13.99 currently at Ulta, which is where I picked mine up at. And it is available in 20 shades, so you will most likely be able to find a shade that works for you. Overall, I really like this foundation and use it on any day I want a really lightweight and light coverage foundation.
