Road to Rediscovery: Revisiting Old Hobbies

Something I’ve been trying to do lately is getting back to my old hobbies. After high school I kind of left them behind mainly due to limited time and poor mental health. These hobbies being drawing, writing, and reading. Now I also paint, which I have not stopped though I do so sparingly as I don’t need a million canvas especially right now while I’m in a tiny space. And as much fun as makeup is I don’t want that to be my only hobby. So I’m revisiting the ones I left in the past to see if they interest me again now that my mental health isn’t as god awful.

Before I started painting, I used to draw all of the time. My room used to be covered in my drawings especially my nature drawings which is still my favorite thing to draw or paint. As much as I love pencil or charcoal drawings, I thought I would try something new which is using pen. And trying other subjects like people and dogs as those I’m not the best at. I just feel like I can never get the perspective right on them especially when it comes to muzzles of dogs.

I also just picked up The Mortal Instrument series to read as I love the TV show. It was something on my reading list back in high school since it in a similar realm in popularity to Twilight, but I just didn’t get around to it. So maybe if I read those I’ll actually get back into the habit of reading to continue on the rest of the books I brought with me to read before I move. Since I already know I like the storyline and characters, so hopefully that helps me with the books. I haven’t read anything since Divergent series which was like four years ago. I started reading Every Day by David Levithan and got halfway through, I should finish that as well but I’ll re-pick that up after The Mortal Instruments.

As for writing, in high school and college I used to create my own novels. Never to get published but just as fun side projects. And I loved making those, but stopped shortly after starting my blog. But I miss it, so I’m going to try to get those creative juices going again. Don’t know what I’ll do with it but it’ll be a fun little project to work on.

So yeah, that’s what’s going on in my world at the moment. Just rediscovering old hobbies and trying new things in those realms.

WHAT’S A HOBBY YOU USED TO ENJOY THAT YOU DON’T REALLY DO ANYMORE, BUT MAYBE WOULD GET BACK INTO ONE DAY?

Love ya,
