Saying Goodbye to the Hotel

For the past year and a half, I have worked at a pet hotel almost every weekend where I wasn’t on call for my full time job. As I mentioned last Monday, there have been a lot of changes happening. So much so that I had to make a very hard decision to say goodbye to the pet hotel. I gave my two weeks notice a week ago, but I don’t have any shifts after yesterday as I go on call the following week so I wasn’t on the schedule that last week anyways. So yesterday, I said goodbye to the dogs for the last time. All of the dogs I became very attached to, especially the regulars that came all of the time so I was very teary eyed when leaving. As I was turning in the notice. Though they aren’t my pets, I felt like they were part of my pack. Sure I’m not going to miss a few aspects, but overall I loved working at the hotel and seeing all of the dogs. Some weeks it was my highlight of the week, while others were different. Maybe one day I’ll go back if things in my life change, but for right now I really need to focus on my full time job and get a day off on the weekends so I don’t burn out. As I was constantly becoming burnt out and my physical/mental health was suffering for it.

Pixie is more than excited about this since I’m going to be home on the weekends and won’t come home anymore smelling like hundreds of other dogs. But I really want to get a second dog of my own, so I can have my own little pack at home. However, next year Rose and I are going to be moving into an apartment and finding one that already accepts two dogs is hard enough. So I have to wait until earlier I move out on my own or we buy a house. Which we’re debating on doing the following year. One day, I’ll have a second dog. But today is not that day.

I have so many photos from working at the Pet Hotel, but here are just a few of my favorites that I’ve taken. There are so many more but i wanted to share just the group photos of the dogs. I’m going to miss all of them!
