There are so many books that I need to read. And being a mood reader is not helping matters when it comes to tackling the list. So, since I’m being indecisive on what I’m going to read next, I figured I would just share what I have lined up to be read next. Will I actually end up reading those next? We’ll see. But this is everything I have on the docket at least for this month. These aren’t in order by any means of when I’m going to be reading them and two of them I have started.

- Cruel Seduction (Dark Olympus, Book 5) by Katee Robert
- Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Pandora, and Adonis inspired book where Aphrodite and Hephaestus attempt to get at each other using the person the other cares about the most following their marriage of convenience. Only for them all to end up in a relationship with each other.
- The Summer Girl (Avalon Bay Novel) by Elle Kennedy
- Cassie is spending her summer in Avalon Bay to get away from her mother in Boston, see the reopening of their family’s hotel after it was sold, ring in her twenty-first birthday, and find a summer fling. She ends up meeting Tate, who is staying next door for the summer and despite him putting her in the friend-zone, the two end up together in the end.
- Lightlark (The Lightlark Saga, Book 1) by Alex Aster
- A deadly game between the six realms that have been cursed for centuries, each ruler has to compete and one must die in order to break the curses. The story follows Isla Crown as she competes to save her realm of temptresses that are cursed to kill anyone they fall in love with.
- The Mortal Techniques series by Rob J. Hayes
- Each book is a standalone book in the connected series. It’s described to be full of oath-sworn samurai, pillaging bandits, vengeful spirits, meddlesome gods, and heroic duels.
- A Game of Malice and Greed by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
- A story inspired by Aladdin set in the same world as Zodiac Academy, but in a different country. This is not a standalone book, so there will be more in the series in the future.
- King of Scars duology by Leigh Bardugo
- Takes place in the Grishaverse and centers around King Nikolai after what happened to him in the events of Shadow of Bone. He is still affected by dark magic. We also see Nina, Zoya (whom he gets in a relationship with by the end), David and Genya (who are now married). I do know pretty much what happens so I know I’m not going to be that surprised, but I still want to read it.
- The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
- Retelling of Patroclus and Achilles during the battle of Troy.
- The War of Lost Hearts Trilogy by Carissa Broadbent
- Basically a retelling of Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass, but with it’s own twists. However, they start out with the same premise: Tisaanah was a former slave that has to compete in a deadly game in order to gain her freedom.
- With These Last Breaths (Aisling Sea, Book 3) by Vanessa Rasanen – Releases August 15, 2023
- The final book in the Aisling Sea trilogy. Declan and Aoife must retrieve a dagger before anyone else can get their hands on it as it has the power to grant victory to any who wield it. It’s also been a slow burn so the two will finally end up together by the end of this book, which I’m excited for.
- Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer – Releases August 29, 2023
- I’ve watched this TikTok series since it pretty much began, so I’m excited to see it become a book. Basically, the assistant is sunshine and chaos walking and the villain is grumpy. I can’t wait to see how this turns out and how Evie and the villain get together. Because in the TikTok series by the author, they have a lot of ups and downs and almost starts to their relationship.
- A Duet with the Siren Duke (Married to Magic, Book 4) by Elise Kova – Releases August 10, 2023
- Little Mermaid meets Orpheus and Eurydice, where Victoria is a human and she sold her soul to a siren that’s come to collect. This is a standalone book in the Married to Magic universe. I’m curious how this one will play out as the other books in this series were good with their takes on various classic tales.
So, yeah… that’s everything I have on my TBR. Several of these are multiple books, so I know I’m not going to get to them all this month but the goal is at least to knock these out by the end of September. What books do you currently have on your TBR or planning to read next?

Love ya,
Mae Polzine
