Next fashion style in our “Style on Focus” is the Chic style. Chic derives from the French word ‘chique’ which means skill and elegance. So this style is a mixture of the two. Often also characterized by being trendy and fashionable. Think Hollywood and runaways as your made source of inspiration for this look. As it’s all about making a statement while looking smart and striking. Some famous Chic Style Types include Angelina Jolie, Jackie Kennedy, and Victoria Beckham. And of course, a lot of fashion bloggers that I see these days have a wardrobe filled of this style. Cause as Coco Chanel said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” And the chic style is exactly that.

Typically this style is going to include stylish designs while keeping a classic element. You will often find strong colors as part of the chic style wardrobe. But you will also mainly find monochromatic ensembles. It is something that relates to being casual in not so casual way. If you are part of this style, your wardrobe is a symbol of style. Common items in a chic style wardrobe include: sleek clean lines, monochromatic clothes (black, white, and neutrals) with a bold statement accessory such as a red lipstick, modern shapes, and of-the-moment accessories. Of course you can never go wrong with a little black or white dress.
Now while Chic fashion is being trendy, that doesn’t mean you have to wear all of the latest outfits that come to stores. You just need to have pieces in your collection that are timeless and can morph with the trends of the year. You can never go wrong with black slacks, string of pearls, and a white shirt. Even though your style is timeless, you know how to cherry-pick the best details and clothes from the current fashion trends and make it yours. You know how to stretch your style envelope without making it look too much. But most important of all, you’re constantly finding ways to express yourself and stretch your style envelope.
What style do you navigate towards? Or how do you incorporate the chic style into your wardrobe?
