Continuing on with our series of discussing different fashion styles more in depth, we’re focusing on the vintage style.

What is the Vintage or Retro Chic Style?

Which is a blast from the past typically ranging from the 1920’s to the 1970’s. Some of the main pieces include: flapper dresses, pinup clothing, retro swimwear and indie clothing. Basically all of the fashions that have just stood the test of time and continue to thrive as the years go on. When I think of Vintage, the very first Influencer that I think of is Jessica Vill (JBunzie) who just lives the vintage lifestyle.

A lot of times you’ll find those perfect vintage looks at thrift stores or there is an online shop called Mod Cloth that sells nothing but vintage inspired fashion. At thrift stores it can be hard at times to find pieces that fit correctly that are also in good condition and weave seamlessly into your wardrobe.

Five Ways to Add the Vintage Touch to Your Wardrobe

  1. Incorporate retro sunglasses, hats or shoes into your outfit.
  2. Add retro patterns into your wardrobe such as polka dots, geometric shapes, animal prints, classic black-and-white stripes, or florals.
  3. Don’t be afraid of bold, vibrant colors.
  4. Add in some suede fabrics to add that retro feel.
  5. Mix aspects of various decades to give you that timeless appearance.

What style do you navigate towards? Or how do you incorporate the vintage style into your wardrobe?
