I let my Discord decided what makeup look I would do, and Queen of Hearts ended up winning. So, I decided to pull inspiration from a few different places for this look. Those being: Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and the playing card for the Queen of Hearts. I think you’ll find subtle nods to each version in the look. From the color palette to the lips to the roses painted red to the drawn appearance of the card. I really like how the look turned out… and of course, it gave me an excuse to put on a crown and my favorite blood-red wig.
This week’s theme for Caturday is Fruit, so I went for a citrus fruit-inspired look. I used a look by @lenaaleew as a reference for this look. I absolutely love how this turned out with the lemons, limes, and oranges. I didn’t really have an outfit that went with the look, so I wanted to focus on the makeup and pulling in elements with the white and green.
I’ve been really enjoying doing body painting lately or at least doing it once a week. That way I don’t get burnt out. This week I turned myself into Marvel’s Scarlet Witch from Wandavision. I love Wanda, she’s one of my favorite characters in the MCU. I let my Discord decide who I turned myself into and I’m really glad they went with this character. The other choices were: Deadpool, Spiderman, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man. Plus, I haven’t seen anyone else recreate this version of Scarlet Witch in body paint. The original? Sure. But this one? Nope. Maybe I’m wrong but I didn’t see any on a quick search. I mostly was trying to get a sense of how anyone else would do the headpiece, but I couldn’t find one that didn’t use an actual headpiece, so I winged it. And I have to say I love how this look turned out.
Regardless if I’m having a full makeup day with foundation or a half-makeup day with concealer and a few other products, if I’m wearing makeup that day I’m wearing a highlighter of some type. As I mentioned in my Fenty Beauty First Impressions, I prefer two different types of highlights depending on their placement. A subtle highlight that gives a glow from within on my forehead, cupid’s bow and chin. And a blinding highlight on the top of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. Though days where I’m only wearing concealer, I only highlight the tops of my cheeks as otherwise it will generally vanish too quickly as there’s nothing underneath to hold it in place. So I have more blinding highlighters in this list then subtle ones.
About two weeks ago, I decided instead of just using up the rest of the products that weren’t cruelty-free I would donate them and give them away so I wouldn’t keep using them. I could’ve sworn I had cruelty-free foundation, but it was only a really light coverage one that doesn’t really look the best on my skin on days were I could use some more coverage. So I went to Sephora and tried out literally every fair foundation in the lightest shade since that’s what I need. But they were all too dark or warm tone so I just looked like an oompa loompa. Then I remembered a video I saw both Jeffree Star and Tati did on Hourglass Vanish Foundation.
One of my favorite eye shadow looks is a soft muted purple tone as it looks really natural and I feel like my eyes really pop when I wear this color. Plus since getting ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Marshmallow, I find this makes that shade a lot more wearable when I’m getting ready in the morning for work.
