Authors Who I Consider Auto-Buy (Read Everything That’s Released)

There aren't many authors who I would read everything they publish. Either because I'm not interested in all of their concepts or because I'm only interested in specific universes. Or they have way too many series, so I pick and choose which one I'm going to read. And then, there are other authors who I have read everything they have released, but because they just have one series or world that they have been writing in. So, I can't say if I would be interested in their other works outside of that realm. But they've published enough where I would be confident in anything else they publish.…
View PostA Pseudo Tandem Reading Guide for From Blood and Ash & A Soul of Ash and Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

While From Blood and Ash and A Soul of Ash and Blood are essentially the same story but told from different POV, I would not recommend reading them in tandem since you will get major spoilers for the rest of the series if you read A Soul of Ash and Blood at the same time. As A Soul of Ash and Blood is told by Casteel as he recounts what happened when he first met Poppy from his perspective as he waits for her to wake up, since Nektas told him to talk to Poppy so she might remember herself. If you skipped all the present chapters, you could read them together in tandem; however, there are massive spoilers for From Blood and Ash, since Poppy had been aware of the truth regarding Casteel. So, I would more recommend this if you've already read the series and want to re-experience the first book from both sides as you read A Soul of Ash and Blood.…
View PostLooking Back at the Books I Read in July 2023

This month felt like every book series had a release. Granted, that's not true as many more are releasing books next month that are on my TBR. Either way, there were a lot of things that I wanted to read. Some of them were definitely better than others, not to mention I also went on a massive hockey romance or rather college sport romance kick as I just couldn't commit myself to reading a new series while I was in the middle of packing up to move and arranging everything involved in that. …
View PostMy Thoughts on A Soul of Ash and Blood (Blood and Ash, Book 5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

A Soul of Ash and Blood is the fifth installment of the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. However, while it might be the fifth installment, this book is basically a retelling of From Blood and Ash from Cas's POV. There are moments of the present sprinkled in, so it's not completely just a retelling, but usually those chapters are fairly short and serve as a transition when something else in From Blood and Ash didn't involve the two of them together. So, this isn't going to be a long review by any means as I don't have a lot of new things to talk about with this tale that I didn't already discuss when I reviewed From Blood and Ash.…
View PostLooking Back at the Books I Read in January 2023

I decided that in 2023, I'm going to do things a little differently here on my blog. Instead of doing a massive summary of everything that happened during the last month, I'm going to break it out into parts if there are multiple things to discuss. So, this one is going to be purely focused on everything that I read during January 2023. These are all the new books I read, not any that I decided to re-read along the way. If I did a review, I'll share the link to those. Otherwise, I will do a quick review of the book or series (with the series getting the mini-review at the end of all the books in the list). Mostly, those will just be a quick blurb about what the book/series was about.…
View PostEverything I Read in 2022

It's been an entire year. I hope everyone had a good year. I thought I would wrap up the year by looking back at every single book I read in 2022. We'll see if 2023 is similar in terms of how many books I read.…
View PostLooking Back at November 2022

This month I decided to take a break from body painting after doing so many looks in October and reacquaint myself with video games since I really didn't play anything in October. The goal was to play a bunch of shorter games, or rather, games I was excited to play that came out in November. And I enjoyed the heck out of it. Most of them I played on Twitch, but I also played Persona 5 Royal offline.…
View PostMy Thoughts on A Light in the Flame (Flesh and Fire, Book 2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Jennifer L. Armentrout's second book in the prequel series to Blood and Ash (Flesh and Fire) was finally released. I was curious about what would happen in A Light in the Flame because the last time we left off, Sera was about to die unless she was Ascended by Nyktos through love. Something we quickly learn he is not capable of because he had that part of his soul removed years ago. Furthermore, the two are still figuring out how to deal with each other after the truth about Sera's upbringing was revealed in A Shadow in the Ember.…
View PostTaylor Swift Midnights Book Tag

It's been a hot minute since I did a book tag, and considering Taylor Swift just released a new album called Midnights, I knew several people were probably going to end up making book tags related to it. I really like this one from Star Is All Booked Up, so check out their blog to see the original. But these are the ones I came up with for each of the prompts based on the song titles.…
View PostMy Thoughts on the Love Triangle Book Trope

Oh, the love triangle trope. So many books include this in one way or another to add a dash of drama and conflict. Typically I find it to be done poorly, as you almost always know which individual a character is going to end up with. The other is just there, and either they are used to make the first individual appear to be the better option. Or leads to cheating occurring, which is a massive no for me. There are a few times where this trope was done, where I didn't mind it being included. So, I decided to look at how a few different book series approached this trope and what worked and didn't work for these series.…
