Mid-Year Reading Wrap Up: Best Books I’ve Read So Far

Instead of going through every book I've read so far for my mid-year reading wrap up, I decided to focus on the ones with the highest ratings. Especially since I've read so many books this year. Each of these books received four stars or above, indicating that they were among the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put any of these books down and found them to be excellent. However, because it is on a.25 increment scale, there is a range within it, with some reaching closer to five stars than others.…
View PostThe Pros and Cons of Being a Mood Reader

It's no surprise to those who regularly read my blog that I love to read. And I will easily consume around a hundred books a year. However, I'm also a mood reader. What does that mean you might be wondering? Basically, you have to be in a certain mindset or mood in order to read. A book that sounds right up your alley one day and get added to your TBR (to be read) list, might end up staying there for a long time. Because choosing what to read next is not as simple as what is currently waiting to be read or sitting on your book shelf. And no matter how much you would like to read that book, if you're not feeling it then it's staying where it's at.…
View PostBooks That at One Point Got Me into Reading

You would probably never guess based on how much I read today, but I grew up hating books. My parents struggled to get me to read anything. At one point they had to bribe me to read 100 books. They made a whole chart, and the majority of those were extremely short books meant to read your child to sleep. And I struggled with those. Any words that weren't simple, I didn't recognize, or couldn't pronounce/spell. So, I wanted nothing to do with reading. It wasn't until the seventh or eighth grade that I finally got into reading anything that wasn't assigned to me by school. And throughout the years there were lulls when I stopped reading for various reasons. So, I thought it would be fun to go through those books. …
View PostAugust 2021 Goals

July was crazy with moving, so in August I'm hoping to relax... and by that, I mean streaming more. I really enjoy it, so I'm adding additional days to my calendar for streaming. I also built some structure around it, so each day I'm streaming has a relative theme. I'll get into what that is when I go over the goals for the month.…
View PostJune 2021 Goals

Another month already?! The year is almost halfway over, and things are starting to open back up. I'm fully vaccinated so yay! This month is going to be crazy to begin with then hopefully things returning to normal around the mid-point of the month. Hopefully, that doesn't change. I really want things to settle down, so I can get back into a routine and have a sense of time again. Granted, towards the end of the month I'm going to start packing to move in July. But that shouldn't disrupt too much.…
View PostMay 2021 Goals

It's my birthday month! Can't believe I'm spending another birthday in quarantine. Maybe next year, we'll be free again. Since we're entering another month, I thought I would share my goals for this month and revisit the ones I made for the previous month.…
View PostMy Thoughts on The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black is the first book in The Folk of the Air series. I had seen this book mentioned a lot on TikTok, and have tried my hardest to avoid any type of spoiler regarding the book including not really reading the synopsis before I began the book. So, the only details that I knew were this book was an enemy to lover trope, involved faeries, and there was a character named Cardan who has a tail. Which are all not spoilers, and I'm going to try to keep my review that way in case you are interested in the book yourself.…
View PostMagical Readathon 2020: O.W.L.s Wrap Up

It's been a month since I posted my Magical Readathon 2020: O.W.L.s. TBR. And during that time period, I did manage to complete it! However, some of of my selections changed. Unfortunately, as I didn't learn about this readathon until it was done, so I could not submit my reading for the official house competition. However, I did still enjoy this readathon, and it sparked my desire to read again. As I was in a bit of a reading slump before that. …
View PostThe Pop Culture Download #2: Toy Story 4, Music, and More

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope everyone's week was nice and somewhat stress free. Instead of breaking everything out into sections this week I'm just going to share everything I've been reading, watching, and listening to lately. Not sure what next week's post is going to look like as that's moving week... so I might skip that one considering I'm not sure what the story with internet is going to be quite yet. Hopefully I get it in right away. If not, I'll have posts up the following week once everything is a little more settled. …
View PostRoad to Rediscovery: Revisiting Old Hobbies

Something I've been trying to do lately is getting back to my old hobbies. After high school I kind of left them behind mainly due to limited time and poor mental health. These hobbies being drawing, writing, and reading. Now I also paint, which I have not stopped though I do so sparingly as I don't need a million canvas especially right now while I'm in a tiny space. And as much fun as makeup is I don't want that to be my only hobby. So I'm revisiting the ones I left in the past to see if they interest me again now that my mental health isn't as god awful.…
