Tandem Reading Guide of Twilight and Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

I’ve mentioned it before on my blog, but I used to be obsessed with Twilight. I helped run a fan forum back in the day on Gaia Online. I wrote a series of novels (never published) that were very inspired by Twilight. And I read every post that Stephenie Meyer put up on her website about this series including Midnight Sun after it was leaked. Then I went to college, grew up a bit, and haven’t returned to the series since. When Midnight Sun was finally released, I wasn’t sure if I was going to get it or not. And I didn’t for the longest time, but the other day while I was at Target I ended up putting it in my cart. So, I thought I’d share here how a tandem read could be done between Midnight Sun and Twilight. Since it’s the same book, just one told by Bella and the other by Edward.

As these books have chapter titles, I’m going to be using those as I list these out instead of Chapters 1-4 (or whatever). Also, instead of writing out the name of each book, all Midnight Sun chapters will be in bold. Generally speaking, I have Bella’s POV first followed by Edward’s. One thing I noticed in these books is when it’s a completely shared scene, Stephenie Meyer used the same chapter name. So, in theory, you could back both books open reading back and forth within the same moment to see each character’s thoughts as the scene played out. However, that would be impossible to write out without sharing the chapter. So, I just have them listed one after the other here.

While I love the original Twilight book, I love Midnight Sun. It’s so cool to see the original from a different set of eyes.

Same, especially when you’re wandering from the other POV what that character is thinking or why are they like that.

Thank you! Starting today! I really like Midnight Sun because I feel like I’m getting a behind the scenes look into what was going on in the original story! But Twilight is the OG lol

Of course! Yeah Edward’s POV is so different compared to Bella’s as far as what was going on. Granted there’s overlap, but the boy is thinking very different things.
