Okay… now that we’re over that let’s get into the foundations themselves.
Both foundations are $39 for 1.01 fl oz of product. Which is a standard amount of product for foundations. Now it is up there in the price range but similar to other foundations that Tarte has. One thing I do not love at all about the packaging is the applicator being a doe-foot. Does it match the Shape Tape concealer? Yes… but for hygiene a doe-foot is a terrible choice for working makeup artists. Or anyone in general as you can’t clean that before dipping it back into the product. Any liquid formula should come out of a squeeze tube or pump. But I don’t start my products and follow the expiration date very closely as expired product will give you break outs. And I don’t need any of that. So it’s just a thing to note really.

I wore this foundation on one half of my face, and seriously loved how it loved. I didn’t notice any creasing, caking, or patches suddenly gone over the course of the day. And I wore it from around 10 AM to 11 PM… so over the 12 hour mark in total. By the end of the day, my foundation and makeup was still looking fantastic. I will for sure be wearing this foundation again as I just loved how it looked on my skin.
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Matte Foundation
So what are the claims of the Shape Tape Matte foundation:
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Matte Foundation provides the same full coverage as its concealing predecessor – it smooths over pores & imperfections with rich, airbrushed full coverage that dries to a flawless matte finish using a unique, concealer-inspired wand. The formula absorbs oil & shine while leaving skin creaseless, hydrated, free of flakiness or cakiness & helping to improve skin health with every application.
Tarteist Tip: Swatch the foundation on your jawline, blend it in, & let it dry down before deciding on your ideal shade.
Skinvigorating Ingredients:
- Vitamin E: A natural preservative that also works as an emollient & antioxidant
- Mineral Pigments: Soothe & soften skin
Dermatologist tested. Hypoallergenic. Waterproof. Longwear. Vegan. Oil-free. Talc-free. Alcohol-free.
Like the hydrating foundation, I wore this for 12 hours in total… probably a little bit longer but one never really knows since when you start doing your makeup everything is applied at different times. And at first when applying this foundation, I noticed it clung to the peach fuzz around my lips. Which made me look like I had a mustache… not attractive in my opinion on myself. But over time, I didn’t notice it anymore or that it was settling in fine lines. It might have in my forehead, but they could’ve also been the concealer I applied there. But it didn’t settle in the smile lines where I didn’t have concealer, so I’m just going to blame that on the concealer.
I do have to say I think the matte foundation looked better as the day went on compared to when I first applied it. Probably due to the fact that I was having a little bit of an oily day. Not anything where I looked shiny, but I think just enough where it helped the foundation to look better. So that I enjoyed. But if it had been a dry day, this foundation would not have been my friend.
Love ya,
