For this week’s Pop Culture Download we’re just going to be focused on The Mandalorian as its the only new thing I’ve watched since the rest has consisted of watching the classic Disney movies on Disney+. Plus, I watched it twice so it gets it’s own dedicated post.

The Mandalorian is a series that takes place in the Star Wars universe, five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (episode 6) and twenty-five years prior to the events of The Force Awakens (episode 7). It follows a lone bounty hunter in the New Republic who is sent after The Child (also called Baby Yoda by like everyone on the internet) who is 50 years old. However, he becomes attached to the Child and after turning him in initially Mando goes back and rescues him from the Imperials, which leads them to be hunted by other bounty hunters. And I mean who wouldn’t? Baby Yoda is freaking adorable.
The majority of the episodes are Mando on the run with Baby Yoda trying to keep him safe. Bringing them to a variety of places across the galaxy including some familiar places. Each place they need to make some money to repair their ship as it is pretty damaged or for fuel. This leads to different types of jobs and exploring Mando’s morality. From stealing a mudhorn’s egg (his signet later), helping to protect a farming village, capturing an assassin, and breaking a prisoner out of jail just to name a few.
There were a few questions I had if this took place before Rey’s adventure in Episodes 7-9, where were they during the events of that? Mando may have retired but Baby Yoda would be like 75, and still a force user. Is The Child talking at that point as he doesn’t talk during The Mandalorian? I’m really curious to see where this show goes especially in the next season as they try to get The Child back to its people.
Not that I normally do these during The Pop Culture Download posts, but here’s a Baby Yoda look I did inspired by this show. If you want details on the look, I have those over on my Instagram:
