Things I’m Looking Forward to When This is All Over

It’s hard to imagine over a year ago that the world would be shut indoors for months, but that’s the reality of the situation at this time. Currently, where I live the Stay-At-Home Order (Quarantine) for COVID-19 is in place until May 17th at 11:59 PM. I’m curious if the order will extended again or if life outside will slowly get back to normal. There have been 11,799 confirmed cases at this time and the line doesn’t appear to be flattening. So, even if everything opens back up I don’t think I’m going to venture much outside quite yet. Since according to officials, Minnesota overall hasn’t been good about following the orders and I’d rather not take my chances. But I thought, I would just write about the things I’m looking forward to once things are safe again.

The very first thing I’m going to do when clinics open back up is get my eyes checked, so I can get contacts and updated glasses. I know for a fact that my glasses are the wrong prescription as things aren’t clear when I look into the distance. Things I swear I should be able to see. Plus, I miss contacts in the worst way. But since it’s been long enough since my last appointment, I couldn’t order them online when I ran out. Meaning I’ve been stuck with glasses, and I don’t know why but the bridge of my nose has not been happy about it. No matter how much I clean my glasses and do skin care, I have several breakouts around where my glasses sit on my nose. It’s annoying.

As I managed to pay off my car mortgage, I think the next thing I’m going to do after contacts is start looking at a new car. Since I have a feeling that the next time there’s an issue with my car, it’s going to be more expensive then it’s worth. So, I want to get a new (most likely used) car. Right now I’m leaning towards a Hyundai Kona.

After that is return to getting my teeth worked on. I have cavities on almost every tooth and need a crown on my back molar. So, I’m going to prioritize the crown and the cavity between my front two teeth first since I think that will make the biggest difference. As I have to more or less pay for everything out of pocket until next year, I’ll be saving up and having various ones done throughout the rest of the year. Of course, I’m not even going to think about this until the world opens back up. It’s not an emergency, it’s not causing me pain so I’m good for the time being.

Lastly, since I’ve been working from home for three months now (month before the quarantine went into effect), I have noticed that my dog could seriously use a buddy. I used to live with my mom and sister, and they have a dog, for over a year with Pixie. I think during that time period, Pixie got really used to having a friend around. Now she starts acting up if it’s been four to five days without seeing her. Like she becomes a completely different dog. No amount of attention, walks, or play time fixes until I bring her to see Winnie. So, I’m going to seriously look into adopting another dog. I will get one from a foster or rescue, but it’s probably going to be a puppy as I want to see it through almost it’s entire life. There are plenty of older dogs that need their forever homes, and I know that, but I want a puppy. Plus, I think it will go over better with introductions with Winnie if it were a puppy versus an adult dog. Winnie has been a mother before, and hopefully seeing a puppy would render a different (more positive) reaction than an adult. Not that the puppy will be living with Winnie, but there are going to be times where they’re going to have to meet. It would be cruel/rude to cut Winnie off from her best friend (Pixie) just because I got a second dog.

What are some things you’re looking forward to or planning when the world opens back up?

Love ya,

Mae Polzine

Oh yes, that would be nice. Wish I lived near the ocean, but I’m good with going to the lake’s beach.

I don’t know when things are going to open up in LA. But when they do I want a hair cut!

I think thatā€™s on a lot of peopleā€™s list when the world opens back up. I know itā€™s on my momā€™s list for sure.

I usually go a long time between hair cuts but it had been about a year since I had one when this first started. Now its to the middle of my back and its starting to get hot here.

I have to get a ton of dental work done too when this is over lol, I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled šŸ™

ALSO, I live in Arizona and idk exactly how bad your state is doing but my state is already reopening restaurants, salons, public pools, etc. and (at least in all of the bars/restaurants near where I work) social distancing is COMPLETELYout the window!

I had that done before the lock down, hopefully yours goes smoothly!

I think Minnesota is just going to be opening up non-essential clinics as phase one of opening the state back up, but golf courses were opened up a while ago as “we need to give the people something to prevent them from going insane.”

Yes, I miss family gatherings. We used to get together at least once every other week and I haven’t seen them since the holidays.

      What type of dog?

I’m planning to get my eyes checked too. I normally get them in June. Things are slowly opening up in Florida and I think that’s really dumb especially since it’s going to attract tourists before we should be traveling. I have a Hyndai and I love it!
I’m most looking forward to Voodoo Donuts.

Ooo those sound good. Yeah my eyes were due in March, but everything closed down before I could go in and in February I didn’t think the world would close so I left it until it was too late.

Sounds like something I’d do. I waited until the last week my insurance would pay for new lenses before getting them done.

This is a great post Mae! I think I’m going to save up to get my half-sleeve tattoo on my right arm, I was supposed to be getting my left half-sleeve while I was in Scotland but it didn’t happen with the lockdonw! I think getting a puppy is the best choice, we always have puppies, it goes a lot smoother for introductions.

That’s what I was thinking too as far as the second dog goes.

Oh completely forgot about tattoos, I’ve been wanting a half-sleeve myself as well. What are you thinking about doing for yours?

Oh exciting! On one arm I’m having some flowers and plants and animals and on the other arm I’m going to do a big stack of books with flowers and quotes and tea cups, that type of thing! What about you? ā¤

Planning on doing a raven at the top of my shoulder and wolf further down arm then a bunch of flowers/plants. Might at a dragon in there as well. Not sure yet, need to work with the artist.
