Safiya Nygaard has a long running series on her YouTube channel where she performs bad makeup science that often results in mixing together large amounts of makeup. Often times being lipstick. And well I don’t normally go for creme lipstick (like at all in the last two years), when I learned she came out with a collection with ColourPop I wanted it.
I’ve done bad makeup science in the past. Which was way messier than I thought it would be and I totally destroyed a cleaning utensil as the lipstick would not get out of it no matter how hard I tried to remove it. It was a lot of fun though, but I no longer have the lipsticks I used to create that nor the end product. All of that went to my sister as in like 2018, I decided I only wanted to use liquid lipsticks though recently I’ve been debating on bringing back the creme lipstick. So, this collection is perfect dip of the toes back into that formula.
Anyways… on to the review of this collection.

Overview of Collection
The collection all together which includes 4 creme and 2 matte lux lipsticks cost $46, while each individual costs $8 (so you only save $2 by bundling them). Each tube of lipstick contains 3.5 g (0.12 oz) of product, and are both cruelty free and vegan. The tube itself and the lipstick have little bats on them. They are formulated with a blend of acai, jojoba and pomegranate seed butters that hydrate and keep your lips looking fresh. And you can feel that on the lips, my lips didn’t kill me after the swatches which normally they do (main reason besides not getting any new lipsticks for a while that I haven’t done lip swatches).
The Shades & Swatches

Description of each of the lipsticks along with what video each of the shades they were originally created in:
- Berry Me In Lipstick – A universally fluttering mauve-berry. On Safiya’s Channel this shade was created with a mixture of 600 melted lipsticks.
- Bikini Bottom – A pinky-beige nude, created by mixing together all of the nude lipsticks she owned, also the first bad makeup science that she ever did.
- Brucie – A matte sharky blue-green. Created by Safiya using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette.
- Fred – A full-bodied red also called the Frankenred that was created by Safiya mixing together red lipsticks from the drugstore.
- Mrs. Norris – A greige-y brown shade that Safiya had created at the Bite Lip Lab in the past.
- Screamer – A matte deep burgundy, almost black shade. Also created at the Bite Lip Lab originally.

Don’t mind my terrible swatches, I’m still getting back into creme lipsticks. My lips are also quite chapped from winter. These creme lipsticks should help keep them nourished.
The collection is limited edition but has been restocked several times and last I looked on ColourPop’s website it was still available if you wanted to check it out. Overall, I’m enjoying the collection. I did wear this to Christmas dinner with the extended family without the lipstick becoming a disaster. It wore as I remember lipstick wearing, so it came off. But I didn’t have any on my chin or bat wings on the sides from eating or drinking, so that’s a major plus for me. It’s not going to last as long as a liquid lipstick, but it still wears pretty nicely throughout the day.

HAVE YOU EVER DONE BAD MAKEUP SCIENCE BEFORE? OR WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS COLLECTION?

I’m loving Mrs. Norris, it’s my favorite shade for a lipstick (liquid or creme).
