Review of Bloodmarked (The Legendborn Cycle, Book 2) by Tracy Deonn

Review of Bloodmarked (The Legendborn Cycle, Book 2) by Tracy Deonn

I had every intention of reading Bloodmarked by Tracy Deonn when it was released, but the mood didn't strike. And I kept debating rereading the first book in this series, Legendborn. But in the end, I changed my mind because I knew what had happened in the previous book. And, while I recall comparing it to Shadowhunters, I had forgotten how similar the two series are. But a major piece that this series focuses on outside of fighting demons is racism, grief, and trauma from generations past. Bree has to deal with everything that happened with her ancestors while struggling to deal with the racism within the Legendborn community and the lengths they will go to cover up the truth.…

The Eyeshadow Palettes That I Still Gravitate Towards

The Eyeshadow Palettes That I Still Gravitate Towards

It's been years since I reviewed makeup, mainly as I found that I had developed a collector mindset with makeup rather than using the palettes I already had. And while my reviews at the time were honest, I didn't appreciate those palettes as much. As I was always onto the next palette to get the next review out. So, after I stopped reviewing makeup and moved away from watching every makeup brand release, I found myself appreciating what I had more. Plus, those palettes that were great really stood out as I still find myself reaching for those palettes even years later. …

The 4 Eyeshadow Palettes I Swear by for Body Painting

The 4 Eyeshadow Palettes I Swear by for Body Painting

I love to body paint, but the way I do these looks, the body paint is just a base. The look doesn't come to life without me using shadows. It just gives a look so much dimension. And while yes, I know many body painters can achieve a similar look using paints alone but I find it easier for myself to use shadows over the paint once it's dried. For reference, I use water-activated body paints not cream or alcohol.…

The Pros and Cons of Being a Mood Reader

The Pros and Cons of Being a Mood Reader

It's no surprise to those who regularly read my blog that I love to read. And I will easily consume around a hundred books a year. However, I'm also a mood reader. What does that mean you might be wondering? Basically, you have to be in a certain mindset or mood in order to read. A book that sounds right up your alley one day and get added to your TBR (to be read) list, might end up staying there for a long time. Because choosing what to read next is not as simple as what is currently waiting to be read or sitting on your book shelf. And no matter how much you would like to read that book, if you're not feeling it then it's staying where it's at.…

Looking Back at the Books I Read in March 2023

Looking Back at the Books I Read in March 2023

This past month started with a reading slump. I couldn't concentrate on reading. Every time I tried, I got maybe one chapter in before getting bored or completely unfocused. Not to mention, I spent a lot of time writing and playing video games. With that being said, I did manage to read some books. Though not as many as I usually do. And most of those were read in the second half of March.…

I Was Surprised by How Much I Loved Playing Grounded

I Was Surprised by How Much I Loved Playing Grounded

Grounded is a survival, active-adventure video game by Obsidian Entertainment, where you play as a teenager that was abducted and shrunk to the size of a bug. However, your character has no memories of this initially, and it's only through the exploration of a backyard that you discover what happened to you and some friends. This game is multi-player, allowing you to play with up to three friends for a total of four players. You can play on different difficulty settings as well as custom game modes. It was originally released in early access in July 2020, then fully released in September 2022.…

My Thoughts on the Vicious Lost Boys Series by Nikki St. Crowe

My Thoughts on the Vicious Lost Boys Series by Nikki St. Crowe

The Vicious Lost Boys by Nikki St. Crowe is a dark reimaging of Peter Pan and Wendy. This series has four books in total in the main series, though there is going to be a spin-off book in the future. This review is going to focus solely on the main series. These books are fairly short reads, so you can easily read each of them in one sitting. They do have an enemy-to-lover and reverse harem vibe to them, as well as darker undertones. If those aren't your vibe, then this series isn't for you. …

Turned Myself into Lara Croft from Tomb Raider

Turned Myself into Lara Croft from Tomb Raider

I've been playing the Tomb Raider series (2013 ones) over on Twitch, so I felt it was only right that I turn myself into Lara Croft using body paint and makeup. I swear Lara should not be alive at the end of these games. It's becoming a point I keep pointing out all the medical injuries as I play these games. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast playing them but still, Lara should not be alive. So, I wanted to reflect that in this body paint but including her injuries and the ripped-up tank top she's rocking by the end of the game.…
