Hey Howl Pack

It’s Mae Polzine! I started this blog back in 2015 to be a place where I could be creative and share things that I love. So, I post a variety of things. I stream a variety of things (gaming, body paint, art, etc.) on Twitch multiple times a week, with stream highlights and all VODs posted on my YouTube Channel.

Lastly, join our Discord to chat with other pack members. We have a great and supportive community over there. I love talking with everyone in Discord as it’s a great way to connect. Also, I offer Twitch emotes, sub badges, and moreover on my shop page as well as my own merch.

July 2021 Goals

It’s finally here. Moving month! I’m leaving the apartment I’ve been in for the last two years and going to a two-bedroom apartment within the same building that checks off all the boxes. I’m really excited to move in, but at the same time, nervous/stressed because I’m moving. No matter if it’s not a major move, it’s still a change. But I’m going to have sunlight, better outdoor access for Pixie, an area for work/streaming since I do that from home, and other things I’m looking forward to. Granted, it’s happening at the end of the month but still, this month is largely going to be focused on moving.

Two ColourPop Palettes that I’ve Been Wearing Lately: Lust for Dusk & So Very Lovely

I’ve been pretty good about not buying every new ColourPop release. Granted, my sister has still been very generous in ordering them for me as surprises lately. Not every release but a fair amount of the eyeshadow palettes. Not all of them I have used or reached for a lot. But there are two lately that have stood out mainly as they’ve been sitting out and I’ve worn them almost every day since I received them. Those palettes being the Lust for Dusk and So Very Lovely.

I Read All of Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

I’m not a romance reader. I enjoy fantasy books where romance is but a subplot. So, when I saw Ice Planet Barbarians all over TikTok, initially I was like “thanks but no thanks.” And then I don’t know what got me to change my mind. I decided to read the first book of this sci-fi romance series and couldn’t stop reading through to the rest. There are 22 full books and several short stories. I did not read the short stories mostly as they were add-ons that explore things that already happened in the main series but from another character’s perspective. Each book in the series takes place from a different couple’s perspective. So while the same characters appear in all the books, they each have one book that is theirs that takes place at various times. Some of them overlap, while others take place a while after the first one. So, you can’t go out of order while reading them. As things mentioned in the books wouldn’t make sense completely if you didn’t read the previous ones.

Trope I’m Tired of Seeing: Sacrificing Power

Sometimes I don’t mind seeing particular tropes in books. Other times, I set the book off to the side and go: “Seriously? We’re doing this again?” This is one of those tropes. I was debating on talking about multiple tropes, but honestly, I feel like this just needs a post of its own. What is that trope you might ask? The lead character losing all of their powers at the end of the book, especially if they were near god-like in the amount of power they had.

Review of Kaleidos Makeup Flower Punk Collection

It’s been ages since I did a makeup review, but I haven’t really had a reason to. I’ve been very good about using the makeup I have rather than getting anything new. But the Kaleidos Makeup Flower Punk collection caught my eye, so I got almost everything. Well, almost all of it. I got the lip clay sets and eyeshadow palettes. As I don’t really need lip masks, temporary tattoos, and coloring book.

Thoughts on A Touch of Malice (Persephone Saga, Book 3) by Scarlett St. Clair

A Touch of Malice by Scarlett St. Clair, takes place a little while after the events of A Touch of Ruin. Persephone now has to deal with the aftermath of her mother’s reaction to her engagement to Hades. Not to mention she’s still figuring out her magic and herself. Not to mention consequences from things that happened in the previous book. According to the author’s guide, this is the last book from Persephone’s POV, the book that takes place after this will be a dual perspective between Hades and Persephone. I won’t share too many spoilers for the book, but I did want to share some thoughts.
