My Thoughts on The Broken Kingdom Series by LJ Andrews

I love a good retelling or adaptation of classic folklore. This series by LJ Andrews is going to be broken into four parts. The first is Beauty and the Beast (books 1-3), the second is Cinderella (books 4-6), the third is Swan Princess (books 7-9), and the last is the Phantom of the Opera (10-12). However, not all of the parts have been released as of yet. But by the end, all four tales will collide together for a grand finale. While the series are separate, they occur in the same world and are interconnected. So, you can read the Cinderella books first, but it is recommended that you read them in the order they were published. Particularly since characters are introduced in the first book and their stories build on what happened in the previous ones. The whole series is part Viking, part folklore, with Fae and magic.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Curse of the Wolf King: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling (Entangled With Fae, Book 1) by Tessonja Odette

I ended up picking up Curse of the Wolf King: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling (Entangled With Fae, Book 1) by Tessonja Odette after reading The Fair Isle Trilogy. I was going to read other books first, but I really wanted to see what happens with King Flauvis after reading the trilogy. Plus, I enjoy Beauty and the Beast retellings. I was curious how the wolf king who was one of my favorite side characters next to Franco in the original trilogy would become cursed. And what exactly that curse meant. And how he would handle a human since he very much was on the side of getting rid of all humans during the original trilogy. He loved his Unseelie form, so I was half expecting him to be in that form the majority of the book. Not in a Seelie form that we've never seen before. But it makes sense he wouldn't be in his wolf form during this book. It would be a hell of a lot harder to break his curse if that were the case.…
View PostMy Thoughts on A Curse So Dark And Lonely (The Cursebreaker Series, Book 1) by Brigid Kemmerer

I love a retelling of a classic tale. Especially of Beauty and the Beast, so when I learned of A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer it found its way onto my bookshelves. Though it's taken me a few months to getting around to reading it. As I have many books awaiting my attention. Plus, I was a bit nervous to read it. I kind of kept thinking "what if it's like A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas" that was another retelling of this tale. Well, the two books are extremely different. And I'm glad about that. This one feels more like Beauty and the Beast without some other story (Hades and Persephone) being intertwined with it. While this one goes off in its own direction from the original tale, it still stays true in some regards to it, while still telling a compelling story of its own.…
View PostBeauty and the Beast Collection by Lorac

Lorac recently released the Beauty and the Beast collection in celebration of the release of the Beauty and the Beast DVD release, which included an eyeshadow palette, lipstick, blush, and lip gloss. I purchased everything but the lipsticks as those were out of stock but will be purchasing these in the future as they look amazing. Growing up I loved Beauty and the Beast, and for my Senior Prom my dress was basically a Belle gown. And yes, I went shopping forever and couldn't find a single dress I loved enough to purchase for prom until I saw the Belle gown. I instantly felt like a princess in it and still wear it to this day, because it was expensive. But hey, I have a Belle gown for whenever such an occasion arises.…
