For the past year and a half, I have worked at a pet hotel almost every weekend where I wasn’t on call for my full time job. As I mentioned last Monday, there have been a lot of changes happening. So much so that I had to make a very hard decision to say goodbye to the pet hotel. I gave my two weeks notice a week ago, but I don’t have any shifts after yesterday as I go on call the following week so I wasn’t on the schedule that last week anyways. So yesterday, I said goodbye to the dogs for the last time. All of the dogs I became very attached to, especially the regulars that came all of the time so I was very teary eyed when leaving. As I was turning in the notice. Though they aren’t my pets, I felt like they were part of my pack. Sure I’m not going to miss a few aspects, but overall I loved working at the hotel and seeing all of the dogs. Some weeks it was my highlight of the week, while others were different. Maybe one day I’ll go back if things in my life change, but for right now I really need to focus on my full time job and get a day off on the weekends so I don’t burn out. As I was constantly becoming burnt out and my physical/mental health was suffering for it.
My baby turned 4 years old today! According to what we were told from the foster home where she was born, July 21st is her birthday. We didn’t get her until October but since I know her actual birthday I celebrate both at once. It’s still hard to believe that she’s already four, it still seems like I literally just got her a year or two ago.
This entire week I’ve basically been off social media as I’ve been solely concentrated on Pixie as she almost died this week. OR rather she could have, which is why I wanted to put my full focus on her. I’ll get into what HGE is later as I kind of just want to write literally everything that happened.
Pixie is not a fan of dressing up especially after Halloween when we dressed her and Kiki up in Star Wars and DC Comic. But she doesn’t mind wearing bandannas. So I have quite a few from PetSmart that are perfect for the season. I also switched out her comic book collar for a green and white candy cane striped collar with red flowers and Christmas bells. And I thought I would show you some of my favorite bandannas that I like dressing Pixie in for the season.
My little baby is growing up, today is her three year old puppy that I’ve had since she was twelve weeks old. Pixie Bug Jackie Young is her official full name or PBJ for short. Her mother was a rescue in Tennessee that was abandoned in a railroad car where she was found to be pregnant by a rescue group. Now no one believes this, but her mother was a fawn colored Welsh Corgi. We believe her father was a Jack Russel Terrier or a Rat Terrier, hence the nickname Jackie, and her very terrier like appearance. She had six brothers and sisters that were all adopted through the same foster home where they were born. We originally were going to adopt her sister Romana, but after meeting half of her siblings ended up driving home with Susie as she was called at the time.
