Making An Advent Calendar For My Dog, Pixie Bug

'Tis the season for Advent Calendars. I didn't any for myself this year, but after seeing videos from Nicol Concilio and Jenna Marbles where they made ones for their dogs, I decided make one as well. Only mine also includes a "treat" for myself, that being starburst that I still had from Halloween. I had a lot of fun making it.…
View PostSome Things I’ve Learned Since Getting a Dog

I’ve had Pixie, a leggy/bug eyed pup now since 2013, which is 6 years. I can’t believe how fast time has flown since she has entered my life. I’ve had a dog my entire time, before Pixie we had a family dog named Sadie. But she wasn’t my dog, she was the family dog. Pixie on the other hand is my responsibility. There’s also Winnie, but she’s the family dog so as much as I love her, she doesn’t really count. After she entered our lives in 2015, Pixie became my sole responsibility and there was a lot I was unprepared for even though I already had her in my life for a little over a year at that point. So I thought I would just share those things with you guys on the blog after I saw a very similar post on From Roses.…
View PostFun Facts About Pixie and Winnie

I love dogs, I have always loved dogs. In fact "dog" was my very first word and it was what I wished for every year at Christmas until my parents finally caved when I was in Kindergarten and got my first dog named Sadie who was a German Shepherds mix. Probably one of the reasons I love German Shepherds and would love to get another some day. But right now I'm in small townhouse and soon an apartment, so a big German Shepherd isn't in the cards at the moment. Anyways, I want to share more about the dogs in my life on my blog. If you didn't know I have an entire page about them in my about section and they have their own Instagram. So today inspired by From Roses, I'm going to be sharing a few fun facts about each of the pack members.…
View PostTips On Off-Lease Dog Walking

One of my favorite ways to unwind is to go for a walk with my dog Pixie. And when we get to go without Winnie I try to go to places where I can take Pixie off lease. As she loves to explore, but in the cities there aren't a lot of locations for that so we end up at the dog park since one of the ones near us has several acres of land so you can walk for a long time without a lease. Plus they have a lake though it's a bit too late for that this time of year (not that the picture are recent).…
View PostMy Dog Saved My Mental Health & Life

I've been feeling rather uninspired lately but over Labor Day weekend I took a really cute photo with my dog and I wanted to use it somehow. I typically never do blog posts inspired by photographs I've taken. But this one got me thinking just about how much Pixie has helped me over the past almost five years. Especially in the mental health department... and honestly I don't think I've written anything about that on my blog. Or if I have, I didn't see it in a quick search of my previous posts. So why not discuss it with that photo I love so much of Pixie Bug and myself.…
View PostMemorial Day Week in Review

This week included Memorial Day so I didn't have to work on Monday. So I had a lovely three day weekend, and it was around 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Minnesota. I also needed just some time in nature so I took out to the local dog parks, including one that had a lake to swim in and one that's all forest so there's tons of shade to hide from the heat. On the first day, we went to the lake park and it was all fine and dandy until four big dogs, all siblings, decided it would be an excellent idea to grab onto Pixie's collar and drag her out into the water where she couldn't touch the ground. So she of course panicked and started drowning, thus forcing my hand to go out into the lake after her when the other dog's parents refused to help call off their dogs. But the rest of the time was fine, we played fetch with her tennis balls and Pixie rolled around in the grass.…
View PostHow Getting a Dog Changed My Life & Made Me a Better Person

I have been a massive dog lover all of my life. Hell my first words were dog and I didn't stop repeating that word until my parents got me one. Granted it was the family dog and followed my mom around like a shadow. And I will always advocate for big dogs, they make excellent pillows to rest on or a shoulder to cry on if you need one. Now if you've been reading my blog for a few years, or even just a little while you'll know I do not have a big dog. I have a rather small dog named Pixie who is going to be five this year. And ever since getting my own dog, I have such a better appreciation for them then I ever did before. Not that my first dog, Sadie, wasn't amazing. She was my absolute best friend but she wasn't mine at the end of the day. So these are all of the things that I've noticed since I got Pixie Bug and just general things about dogs.…
View PostFour Pets I Want to Get in the Future

If you've been following my blog, you'll know I'm in between homes at the moment living at my mom's place while I wait for the lease to expire at the other place. I'll probably wait a few more months afterwards to save some money then I'm going to move into a place of my own. And when I move I want to get a few new furry friends to join the pack.…
