Hey Howl Pack

It’s Mae Polzine! I started this blog back in 2015 to be a place where I could be creative and share things that I love. So, I post a variety of things. I stream a variety of things (gaming, body paint, art, etc.) on Twitch multiple times a week, with stream highlights and all VODs posted on my YouTube Channel.

Lastly, join our Discord to chat with other pack members. We have a great and supportive community over there. I love talking with everyone in Discord as it’s a great way to connect. Also, I offer Twitch emotes, sub badges, and moreover on my shop page as well as my own merch.

My Thoughts on A Throne of Shadows (Prophecy of the Forgotten Fae, Book 1) by Tessonja Odette

I have seriously loved Tessonja Odette’s books in the past, so I was excited when she announced a new project, which is actually an updated story that was previously released. Tessonja Odette completely rewrote the story, so there are plot changes, name changes, and other modifications. I did not get to read the original, earlier edition when A Throne of Shadows went by Shadows of Lela, but I was excited to read this one since it’s an enemies-to-lovers romance and described to be perfect for fans of Throne of Glass, Air Awakens, and Shadow and Bone. Of those three, I have yet to read Air Awakens but it is on my TBR as I enjoy other books from Elise Kova.

Thoughts on The War of Two Queens (Blood and Ash, Book 4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The fourth installment of the Blood and Ash Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout was released called The War of Two Queen. I read it in a day… literally stayed up all night unable to put the book down. While I could do a proper review, I haven’t done so with the rest of the series. I have a lot of thoughts I wanted to share, which means I’m going to go heavy into spoilers, especially regarding the last few chapters of the book.

My Thoughts on Zodiac Academy Series by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

I finally got around to reading the Zodiac Academy series by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. I tried my hardest to avoid all spoilers in regard to this series. So far only 7 of the 8 books in total have been released with the last coming later this year. They are available right now on Kindle Unlimited. While only seven of the books have been released, the first book was re-released but from the POV of the guys since the first book solely is told from the girls’ POV. Every book after that is a mixture of their perspectives with each POV told in the first POV.

My Thoughts on Kiss of the Selkie: A Little Mermaid Retelling (Entangled With Fae, Book 3) by Tessonja Odette

I loved Little Mermaid growing up. I used to watch it all the time to a point where I could recite the words of the first and second movies (primarily second) by heart. Though I don’t recall it to that level anymore, I know all the music and story insanely well. So, when I saw that Tessonja Odette was doing a retelling of that story in her Entangled With Fae series, I was all for reading it. While you can read the Entangled With Fae series in any order, I would recommend reading them in order as this book takes place one year after the events of Heart of the Raven Prince and refers to characters from there, so there might be spoilers to the previous two books.

My Thoughts on King of Battle and Blood (Adrian x Isolde, Book 1) by Scarlett St. Clair

I love Scarlett St. Clair’s Persephone and Hades series, so I was curious what her first book outside of that series was going to be like. Especially when I learned it was about vampires. Plus it’s an enemies-to-lovers-style romance, which is always filled with tension. Granted the enemies-to-lovers part is one-sided in this book. If you don’t want spoilers since I’m going to be sharing all my thoughts on King of Battle and Blood, I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I could not put it down. There are some darker themes and romance scenes are not fade to black. Though I wouldn’t say any of the darker moments are very graphic. I’m curious to see where the rest of this series is going to go. I can’t remember where the next book in this series is slotted for release since Scarlett St. Clair is still working on publishing the rest of her Persephone and Hades books.

My Thoughts on Our Violent Ends (These Violent Delights, Book 2) by Chloe Gong

A year ago I read the first book in the Romeo & Juliet retelling by Chloe Gong called These Violent Delights and fell in love with the story. I wanted to see how the duology played out. Mostly if it kept with the Romeo & Juliet similarities until the very end or if it would take a different turn. So, when Our Violent Ends was announced for pre-order, I got it and finally got my hands on it over the weekend. And while I stick with the notion that I’m not doing reviews for the most part at this time, I have to for this book. Or at least share my thoughts on the books. Note there will be spoilers. If you don’t want spoilers, here is what I would rate the book: 4.25 out of 5 stars. It was freaking amazing! I cannot wait to see what else Chloe Gong releases in the future since this was her first series.
