My Thoughts on City of Thorns (The Demon Queen Trials, Book 1) by C.N. Crawford

City of Thorns by C.N. Crawford came up under my recommendations for Kindle Unlimited when I was looking for something new to read. The description seemed interesting and was recommended for readers that liked Laura Thalassa, Sarah J. Maas, and Jennifer L. Armentrout. All authors that I have enjoyed reading in the past. So, I thought I would give this book a go while I wait for new releases to come out that I'm looking forward to.…
View PostMy Thoughts on A Shadow in the Ember (Flesh and Fire, Book 1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I love the Blood and Ash series from Jennifer L. Armentrout, so when it was announced she was going to be writing a prequel series called Flesh and Fire I wanted to read it. Especially since it hints at things that happen in the original series. Since the main focus of Flesh and Fire is on Nyktos and his consort, Seraphena (Sera). If you've read at least A Crown of Gilded Bones in the Blood and Ash series, you'll already know the outcome of this series as Nyktos states what happened. However, this series focuses on getting to that point where Gods no longer could wander freely between their realm and the mortal one. And the supposed Dark Age mortals went into because of those events. I don't think that the last part will be covered in this series, but we know it happens due to this series.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked, Book 2) by Kerri Maniscalco

shing Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco, I wanted to continue on with the series right away. The second book is called Kingdom of the Cursed. Because I had to know what was going to happen once Emilia entered hell. Was Wrath going to let her go to Pride? Or is their engagement still a thing since the tattoo has not vanished. If anything, it had grown since Emilia attempted to call it off. And I can't see Emilia ending up with Pride, her sin that she rapidly falls back on is aligned with wrath. The two are very similar to each other. So, I was curious to see what would happen between these two in the next installment.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked, Book 1) by Kerri Maniscalco

n I was in high school, I used to volunteer at a library shelving books that had been returned. The mass majority of the ones always ended up being James Patterson. Every section you went into there were massive sections for James Patterson. Children's, Teens, Fiction, Non-Fiction... you name it, James Patterson would have rows upon rows of books. So, when I saw this Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco was a James Patterson Presents Novel, I was curious. Not only that, but it kept coming up in my recommendations alongside Stalking Jack the Ripper by the same author. One day I'll get to that book series, but I figured I would go to Kingdom of the Wicked first since the second book was just released and I was trying to hold off until the whole series was complete. Now, I don't know if it ends after the second book but that was the book I was waiting to come out before starting this series.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Heart of the Raven Prince: A Cinderella Retelling (Entangled With Fae, Book 2) by Tessonja Odette

While Cinderella isn't my favorite fairy tale of all time, it's a classic that I still enjoy. And considering I enjoyed the other books I've read so far by Tessonja Odette, I was looking forward to reading Heart of the Raven Prince. Especially since it involves two characters from previous books in the Fair Isle world, those being Ember and Prince Franco. While you can read the Entangled With Fae series in any order, I would recommend reading them in order as this book takes place one year after the events of Curse of the Wolf King and refers to characters from there, as in there could be some spoilers for the first book.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Curse of the Wolf King: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling (Entangled With Fae, Book 1) by Tessonja Odette

I ended up picking up Curse of the Wolf King: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling (Entangled With Fae, Book 1) by Tessonja Odette after reading The Fair Isle Trilogy. I was going to read other books first, but I really wanted to see what happens with King Flauvis after reading the trilogy. Plus, I enjoy Beauty and the Beast retellings. I was curious how the wolf king who was one of my favorite side characters next to Franco in the original trilogy would become cursed. And what exactly that curse meant. And how he would handle a human since he very much was on the side of getting rid of all humans during the original trilogy. He loved his Unseelie form, so I was half expecting him to be in that form the majority of the book. Not in a Seelie form that we've never seen before. But it makes sense he wouldn't be in his wolf form during this book. It would be a hell of a lot harder to break his curse if that were the case.…

Normally when I do reviews, I do one book at a time in a series unless it's Ruby Dixon's books as I marathon the entire series and combine them all into one review. Usually, due to the fact, they are short and my opinion doesn't vary from book to book. However, The Fair Isle Trilogy by Tessonja Odette I'm combining as I got all three books combined under one paperback book. So, I figured I might as well share the review of each individual book altogether with my overall thoughts at the end.…
View PostMy Thoughts on Gleam (The Plated Prisoner Series, Book 3) by Raven Kennedy

Gleam is the third installment in the reimaging of the King Midas myth series called The Plated Prisoner. It takes place immediately following the events of Glint, so spoiler warning for that book. Auren learns the fact that King Ravinger is Commander Rip. He is able to transform his appearance between the two, and he's just learned that she's the one who can turn things to gold not Midas. I started this book immediately after finishing Glint because I had to know how Auren was going to react to that information. She has started to get feelings for the Fourth Kingdom's King. Not only that but she feels betrayed by him for not telling her that detail. Similar to how everyone hides or keeps things from her, or tries to dictate her life. She's done with it. And honestly, I don't blame her.…
