History of the Trend: Ripped Jeans

Let's take a sort break from subcultures and focus on a single article of clothing that has a trend which comes in and out of fashion every few years. That being ripped jeans.…

History of the Trend: Goth

History of the Trend: Goth

Today's History of the Trend is another subculture. This is another subculture that I grew up around, I never got into it as I was more on the punk/emo side, but a lot of my friends were Goth. I also have a lot of scene friends but that will be a History of the Trend post for in the future as that is a whole separate category that also was born around the same time from as a subculture that originated from punk. I'll also cover emo at a future date as well.…

History of the Trend: Kawaii

History of the Trend: Kawaii

For the next history of the trend, I'm going to another sub-culture much like the punk one I did a few weeks ago. As you can read from the title, I'm going to focus on Kawaii sub-culture. I remember first seeing this when I was in Junior High School (2000s) but never really got into it as I went more down the punk/emo direction. And still sort of live in that realm fashion wise. But I do enjoy looking at Kawaii fashion, it's just doesn't match my personality.…

History of the Trend: Punk

History of the Trend: Punk

I'm including this in my History of the Trend series, but honestly this is more of a subculture. And I'm going to do a few more subcultures in my "History of the Trend' series because I feel like it just fits in. As I remember Punk being a "trend" when I was in Junior/Senior High school, at least for fashion. And I wanted to be part of this in the worst way, but my mom wouldn't let me. So at the moment I'm kind of trying to live out my dreams of years past with the red hair as it's something I always wanted growing up.…

History of the Trend: Chokers

History of the Trend: Chokers

For the next article in the history of the trend series, I'm going to be focusing on chokers. This is a fashion accessory that I've been wearing since I was nine years old. And this isn't a new thing that came around within the past few decades. Chokers have been around since ancient civilians used for protection as the neck was considered the most important part of the body. It was only in the late 1800s with Princesses of Wales that the once body armor became a fashion icon.…

Fashion Trend: Rompers/Jumpsuits

Fashion Trend: Rompers/Jumpsuits

One of my favorite spring/summer fashion trends is rompers/jumpsuits. They are lightweight and can be styled from comfortable day outfit to something a bit more dressy. They can have sleeves or no sleeves as well as shorts or pants for the bottom half of the outfit. If you prefer hiding your midsection, a romper with a gathered waistband and a baggy, blouse-like top will probably be your best friend. If you prefer highlighting your curves, a form-fitting style, might be the way you go. Shorts aren't your thing? Opt for a wide-leg style as they might be mistaken for a dress. If you’re heading to a bonfire or a movie, remember to bring along either a button-down shirt, denim jacket or long cardigan — layers are key to combating cooler nights and blasting air conditioner. Rompers are very versatile that way.…
