China Updates Animal Testing Policy, Are They Cruelty Free Now?

Something that has been a buzz in the cruelty-free community within the last few days is the news that China has changed some laws regarding animal testing. Now the headlines are a bit deceptive as they make it sound like they are ending the laws that require animal testing on cosmetics. Which unfortunately is not true. They have however made some progress but it’s not to a level where if any brand that sells in China is now suddenly cruelty free. Next up in “Guide to Cruelty-Free Cosmetics” is how to get involved in getting brands to become cruelty free. This is sort of how the entire idea for doing this series came to mind for me. That being Covergirl pulling out of the Chinese market and changing their animal testing policy to not do it.
