It’s been a hot minute since I posted something makeup related on my blog, but to be honest I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup since quarantine for COVID-19 began. Mainly as I ran out of contacts and putting makeup on without being able to really see was a hassle. So, I’ve only really started wearing makeup again for the last month. But it’s still been my go-to “roughly” since quarantine started.
I was not planning on doing another slasher horror movie look until next week, but last night there was a power outage and I didn’t really have anything else to do. So, I decided to create Jason Voorhees from the cult classic Friday the 13th. I was inspired to do this specific version from @peachcait over on Instagram. Being completely honest, I have never watched this movie or most of the iconic horror classics. Maybe this Halloween season I’ll actually watch them for the first time rather than just the “Everything Wrong With…” videos on YouTube.
I like to try out different foundations then get into moods where I wear one for several weeks before switching to another one. So it takes me quite a while to get through a single bottle of foundation. To a point where I start to forget how they stack up next to each other, so I thought I would do a massive comparison of all the ones that I keep in my collection. I’m going to do a similar ranking as I did in my Juvia’s Place palette comparisons where I’m going use a few different categories to determine which foundation is truly the best. The categories will be the following: wear time, finish, price, shade range, coverage, amount and applicator.
Here’s another Halloween look for the season, many as I’ve been in the trying random makeup looks and I’m not a massive fan of my recreation of this look. But I do like how a few elements of this look turned out. Basically it’s a person who’s being taken over by a pumpkin parasite. I have seen multiple different versions on Instagram this season but the two that I saw were from withlove.nadia and vocallyshook.
I’ve been going through my makeup collection lately and most of the highlighters that I wear all of the time either expired, somehow are too dark for me now, or don’t give me that blinding highlight that I want these days. And after the Kat Von D statement over not wanting to vaccinate her kid (I’m going to do a Ten Minutes With Mae on that subject soon over on YouTube)… I needed a new go to highlighter. So while I was at Target the other day, picking up some replacement hair products I decided to also get the Milani Stobelight Instant Glow Powder in Afterglow for $10. As I’ve heard a few different YouTubers (mainly Tati) mention how great this one was.
I used to use brow pencils all of the time for my eyebrows before switching to brow pomades. But I wanted to bring them back into my routine, since I don’t always start from scratch when I do my brows. Yes that’s not the best thing in the world as I leave whatever brow products I had on the day previously, but it saves me time. And on those days I just want to do some light touch up, so brow pencils seemed like a wonderful solution. So I needed up purchasing two different drugstore ones: Milani Stay Put Brow Pencil and ColourPop Boss Brow Pencil.
